PPF DIY

Does anyone do their own PPF? What product do you recommend? Expel track wrap is all I am familiar with. Is there a way to get the good stuff?

Thanks.

3m is pretty good, expel like you said, I have a local dealer for films and they sell them by the foot so I order it from there. The next best option is probably looking for a 3m or expel dealer local to you via the online portals, and contacting them to see if they sell it to the general user.

Keep in mind that if the film is not installed by a certified pro that the warranty may be void.

Cool thanks for the info. I have a few carbon aftermarket pieces. Just doesn't make sense paying for the huge labor margins when I could do it myself.

I wrapped the interior trim in my old e46 M3 with 3m years ago and I took forever to make it look decent, and never did get it 100% perfect. I couldn’t even imagine trying to do our front bumpers haha. All the power to you if you can make it look good!

I know anyone can buy Xpel and they charge the same price that my authorized installer pays for it.

I've come across websites that sell pre-cut ppf for the M2. It's been a few years but I recall seeing both xpell and 3M available.

Bought a pre cut front of 3M Pro Series off eBay and did it myself with help. To be honest it was a huge pain to do, but in hindsight it's been more than worth it. I've hit a few pieces of shredded tire from blowouts and it's protected the paint fully.

Xpel does sell custom printed stuff on their website if your looking to do specific area on the car. Example, front clip, pillars, roof, trunk, sides, rocker panel and rear bumper. The 3m precut stuff on eBay will be cheaper though.

Yeah the expel stuff that they sell directly is more expensive, but iirc they offer more pieces of film to cover the m2. I think you can cover the entire car if you buy all the pieces.
