Over here the 1M and M2 (6MT) are both quoted the same weight: 1495kg (compare here and here).

Nice catch
Also to be expected then on future models such as the upcoming M5 Competition.

Over there you could order M2 without power seats. I know, but over here they come with more stuff. You guys get all the good stuff!

My guess is that UK base price is the very base model. As in 6 spd, regular brakes, regular seats, etc...

I still think a full loaded US model with DCT, track brakes, new seats, etc... will be low 60s.

I feel bad for the engineers though....its clear they really want to make this thing THE halo M car but BMW won't let them touch the M3/M4 status although this is pretty damn close. That's why I don't see the top M2 CSL model ever being green lit...it would stomp all over the M4 GTS.

Gatte has given confidence and proven a business case as to why BMW must put a CSL version of M2 in to production as exiting halo M2 from this platform generation - setting the M2 name in stone to attract the next generation of buyers - aka the new M3. Artemis, you've nailed it re: the rear wing design. The current GTS spoiler design is too decisive and BMW need to put some hours in to the design and integrate it better with the sculpture of the rear of the car - pretty much exactly like the vision concept car. Make it happen BMW, please.
The current GTS spoiler design is too decisive ? Divisive? Derisive? Seriously.. I'm not catching your meaning here..
Went back and edited it, as it reads now, divisive = splitting opinion. Some like the GTS rear wing but some really do have high levels of ricer hate for it. If they sculpted something beautiful like the flowing rear wing of the vision concept then I'm sure it would actually "make" people buy the car as it's so unique looking.

These pictures finally show us what the actual M2 Competition looks like. The other leaked BMW pics were heavily photochopped. After looking at these pics the only improvement over the current M2 design is the M Mirrors. The front one piece kidney grilles don’t work with the design of the M2.The lower middle part of the front bumper is also to narrow,it makes the whole front bumper look to stretched out.I also don’t like the 3 open slats in that area. The rear is also worse because that huge exhaust can is hanging down below the diffuser.

They should have just kept the current M2 design and tweaked it like Bimmerpost did with this render. It looks way better IMO.

The vision concept is a little too wide and probably a little too unrealistic. A wing similar to the CSL concept could look really nice on the M2 along with a little more width like the M2 Racing cars.

I will pray with you.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the CS being the limited model including dealerships being told so. It could still happen but I don't think that the CS would really be considered the Halo car that BMW needs to make to establish the 2 series. Also, no CS cars have a wing so far and I really really think that there is an M2 somewhere with a wing mounted on it.

I would think it would probably be called the GTS/CSL/Racing or something. I really hope it'll be called the CSL along with the full on lightweight treatment.

Basically the Batmobile 2.

It sure seems that the GTS moniker is dead based on the comments from Van meel and the intro of the CS.
I sincerely hope so, never liked them to begin with. In my opinion, the next generation could be a better iteration to bring back the CSL badge. Alternatively, they could also do it on both generations.

they just need to hit the EASY BUTTON and saddle it with a 6MT, so it will be slower on paper.. and then they call it a " HERITAGE EDITION model and invoke things like the E30 M3 Sport Evo and E46 M3 CSL blah blah

Nice poll! Maybe the first post was edited based on Benzima's catch? It's just where I read it first and it wasn't my catch.

Finally someone else confirming what I’ve been saying all along that the carbon fibre strurt brace is standard. Also, I hinted on pricing in the past and not it’s official. 😊

You did mention about the pricing being lower in some markets.

Makes us wonder, M3 Adjuster might add you to his list.

What do people think about the badge? Will we finally be able to purchase an OEM Black M2 badge for our pre and LCI M2s or does the badge on the new Competition model have the word "competition" integrated in to the design? Ie. M2 and Competition are not separate and cannot be separated.

I know BMW like to spout on about 50/50 weight distribution somehow I don't see the additional weight from the engine will deliver on that point
The current M2 is already tilting the balance scale at 52/48. Adding another 121 lbs to the front will make it just about 54/46. BMW has gone down this mo-power-mo-weight path before to appeal to the mass that cares more about straight line acceleration bragging right, engine code designation, mirror cap pigtail and hood bump than the actual driving experience itself. That path led to successive M cars that enthusiasts universally agree have departed from their M root, until 1M and M2 came along.

If BMW really wanted me to be bitter about owning a current M2, they should have done these instead:
-B58 at a higher state of tune to 385-400hp
-Upgraded FMIC to support the hp bump
-Use aluminum hood, trunk and roof (I don't even need the fancy CF roof)
-Upgraded fueling would be nice to have

We would then have a 30-40 lbs LIGHTER and undisputedly better M2 rather than this new F82 M2. I would not be trading up either way as there are other impressive cars on the near horizon (GT4 and C8 just to name couple). But I genuinely want the M2C to be as best as it can be.
