VW TT M2 LCI - daily & track

Hi, new to the forum and to bmw. Wanted an M car forever but only recently was I able to get one. And what a great car it is. Lost my job a few years back so sold my 400+ hp golf R I had to free up some cash, and bought a used fiesta ST. I was grumpy about that but soon realised that I was having 100x more fun in the ST than I ever did in the R. The R was fast but really that was all it did. So the little ST got me into track days and having done a few of those I was soon swapping for a Megane RS. Loved that car but it was NOT reliable and I still wanted that M. So took the chance when I could and got a nearly new LCI. And I'm loving it. Haven't tracked it yet as honestly I'm a little nervous to. It's by far the most expensive car I've owned and I know how carried away I get on track. Can't decide if I should buy a dedicated track car or not....But it seems a shame not to use the M2 to the full.

For now I've done only basic mods. The usual grills etc and a steering wheel retrim. Getting brake fluid and pads sorted soon so I can get on track if I decide to. Which I'm sure I will. If I do and I'm happy to keep doing then I'll get some 18' wheels and probably some Litchfield AST's.

Anyway not the most exciting thread on here I know but here's some pics to keep it interesting

The ST that began the track thing for me....great little car!!

The Megane.....what a track car that was.

The M2 before the cosmetic mods were done.

Nice! I too am an ex-Fiesta ST owner. I miss that car all the time, and it was also the vehicle that got me into tracking events. Unfortunately the RECAROs took its toll on my lower back and hips from daily driving so I sold it.

Yes I loved the ST. Such a fun car. Just too small for me though. Was sad to see it go. Wasn’t a fan of the ST seats either. Had recaro CS in the Megane and they were fantastic. If I had the spare cash atm I would certainly look into getting some for the M2. Maybe one day!

Taken the plunge and booked Oulton park in July. Very excited. After much reading I decided to get the fluid changed, the lines done, and some RS29 pads fitted. The pads are epic even on road but I honestly don’t think I can stand the squealing every day. Might have to put the standard pads back in after the track day or maybe wait till the summers over and swap for the winter.

Then I’m contemplating the options. Leave the car as is and just enjoy it with the intention of maybe a swap to the comp in a year or two. Or commit long term to this car and get some mods done to it (AST5100, recaro cs, 18” track wheels, etc).

Let’s see what the trackday is like. Then I’ll make some decisions. Love this car more every day though.

Nice! You must be excited! I have my ppf appointment this sunday, then booking Auto Club Speedway for mid July (Also gives my track M3 a little break for some preventive maintenance).

I face the same dilemma haha, I want to give it a good suspension setup with camber, pads to only swap for track days, and seperate set of wheels and tires to track, but you know how that rabbit hole goes! I also have my bootmod3 license from my prior car that I can transfer to this car for free for stage 1, but I don't plan on tuning any time soon since I am enjoy the heck out of it with the power as is ! I just wanna get comfortable on track with it as is, my e36 M3 will still do 80% of my track days. My friend swaps pads on his CP M4 before every track day, and wheels at the in the morning , so you can definitely do that if you mind having to do pads before and after track days.

But these are nice "issues" for us enthusiasts to have haha.
