The app still has some kinks but overall, I absolutely love the simplicity of the layout and usability and expert mode is nice since it closely mirrors eSys.

Hmm ok...so a quick update:

- you were right about the lock thing, it just reset to drivers.

- both were inactive so I activated them and now comfort access works with the fob but not the door handles. If I switch back, works with door handles but not fob.

Interesting. Well the fob side of things is found under expert mode but the comfort side of things is in basic mode as you know...any chance CA has reset just like the locks did?

The consensus so far is that the Wifi VGate iCar v2 is one of the better options.

The iCar V2, that is very convenient because its stand-by function that doesn't absorb energy from the car battery when the motor is off.

Hey guys, I hate to be a royal pain in the a$$ but I have the vgate and the app but i want the steps to start just to make sure i don't mess anything up. do i just plug it in and the app finds it? does the car have to be turned on all the way? once its flashed will it always show an error code before restarting the vehicle. If anyone could kindly list the initial steps that would be great. Again sorry for the pain the a$$ question i just didn't see a list of steps on the other pages of this thread. I''lll be practicing on my buddies 2015 3 series today before i do my M2 that I'm getting later this week.

Just plug in, turn on (if necc press button on n vgate). Ignore the instructions that come with it btw.

Connect to it with your phone (wifi)

Open bimmercode app, click 'connect' (a backup will automatically be created-suggest you rename it so that you know which is the original factory set up).

Code away!

- car does not need to be running but ensure it does not shut off on you while coding.

- only when coding the FEM module will the car shut down afterwards.

- you can only code one module at a time.

- if you feel comfortable enough and want to explore the 'expert' mode, use one of the F22 or F30 coding cheat sheets as your guide. They can be found several pages back in this thread.

Ps does your buddy know you will be 'practicing' on his ride?

Anybody else having problems with the front electronic module not being reported? Instead I have "Car Access System" which is reported as "unknown ECU" and is inaccessible (with a greyed out dot).

Please send a support request from within the app, so I can have a look into the log files.
