Wanted to come back to this thread because I had a good chance to drive with burbles back on in traffic and through tunnels, etc. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until a tractor trailer pulled up besides me in traffic. The burbles are reminiscent of the Jake brake the semis use.

On the one hand I like the added drama but on the other hand it gets tiresome because it's excessive and predictable. Can't wait for the warranty to end and the DME to be unlocked so I can go with BM3 or similar to tune the burbles to my liking.

Disabled burbles probably 150 miles ago - wow it is so much better. The way it was before was so obviously manufactured. Highly recommend going full "off" and letting the engine do its actual thing.

It would be pretty neat if I could make it so that burbles are off in Sport mode but on in Sports+. Would work perfectly for me since I'm usually not in Sports+ while buzzing around town.
I believe a tune allows you to control the intensity and duration of the burbles.

Unsure if there's a way for that dme in this manner.
Thanks for checking! From what I see online, the only way for me to get more is by a tune from a garage/remap specialist I guess.

I have a full Akrapovic Evolution exhaust with "active sound design" disabled and there are some good, light burbles in sport mode. Sport+ gives a nice pop on upshifts under load, burbles are more frequent at the higher rev ranges but not obnoxious in their volume.

I quite like it.

Edit: I was confusing ASD and sound tuning in my post above, I meant that I disabled sound tuning (burbles) and still have light burbles. It doesn't completely shut off the feature, just mellows it out, it's almost more "natural" in it's sound and intensity.

What did you disable it through?

Thi is my experience with AK motion aswell.

When i first start the car there are no silent burbles. but after half an hour. i get these muted burbles that are more frequent than full mode.
I even get them when i switch to efficient.

Does everyone else that did this with bimmerlink have same pattern?

Have anyone tried to do this with ista+ ? maybe then they are full off?

That's a bit confusing. I get the braaap and wooof sounds at higher revs but no burbles per se.

Sometimes I get TINY like half burble. Like it's about to start but stops immediately. But I don't think that's what you guys are talking about?

I'm not an expert at all but I wouldn't think that an aftermarket exhaust could change this behavior? I have AA EL midpipe with stock muffler

DCT or MT? I have a MT.

When in Sport + and I let off the gas completely (like when coasting to a light still in gear) the car makes all sorts of "manufactured" sounds. Some might call it a burble, fart, brapp, grumble… all the same to me. Every once in a while after the car is nice and hot it will actually make a very loud bang, like a gun shot…along with said farts.

All of this is much less noticeable to me when the windows are up.

No. Completely stock other than disabling ASD.

1. Because I'm interested in disabling farts.

2. Also interested in what others are seeing with stock coding on 2021 models. And I'm offering info about what I see with my "older" car.

…I could ask you why you watch porn when you aren't packing 12", but I don't care what you do. Do what makes you happy.

The burble method over bimmerlink (or using tool32) will not affect the tune in any way.

Thanks heaps for the Tool32 instructions 'Enabled'.
I've been using E-Sys and ISTA+ for a few years but never used Tool32. Couldn't have been easier.

I wish there was a way to get the burbles enabled but make it much less predictable. Like get it to happen one out of fifty times lol.

Until then, very happy to have them completely disabled.

I have made it in the tune where there is a louder pop only with fast decel after high boost/heavy load. This can potentially shoot a flame if I intensified it, but I'm not interested in that.
I also shortened the fake pop duration on regular decel to 0.5 seconds (down from 4 seconds!), which gives a crackle of about 2 small pops and then quiet.

Popping for no reason for 4 seconds is a bit excessive.

That sounds similar to what I'm currently experiencing in sport+ with factory settings but burble coded off. If I had it my way that would be sport mode setting and sport+ would be a slightly more aggressive version of that.
