No problems whatsoever and still a lot of fun to drive and way more power than this car would ever need!

Since my first post, BM3 now has the M2 CS Map which is extremely smooth and they have also made some updates to the Stage 1 Map to make it even better. Not to mention the multi-map, anti-lag and flex-fuel options.

I couldn't be happier!

Thanks for the update! Much appreciated. After hearing your thoughts and doing more research, I think I'm going to go this route. I just need to find out if I need to unlock my DME. It is a 2019, but I heard the dealership can update the software, thus locking the DME.

Just as a precaution, when you take the car in for the free maintenance ask them what is due on it. Then add that you'd prefer if they not update any software on your car. I mean it is your car and they shouldn't do things to it without your approval.

Pretty sure if its been to BMW for any service it will have been updated for sure. The DME update was rolled into ISTEP updates from late 2019, so will have automatically been done at service.

I kept mine outside the dealer network to avoid them updating it and have all my service by an independant BMW specialist.

I tried to get a new tail light under warranty from BWM they said yes, but only if I have all oustanding updates on the vehicle carried out - i.e DME update.

...so I walked away. It's out of warranty now so no matter.

It has been taken to the dealer during the previous ownership. It was last taken in June of this year, a few months before I picked it up. Thankfully this dealer didn't update it.
That being said, I've been able to flash my car. And wow, I can't believe how much the Stage 1 tune wakes this car up. I am just blown away. The smiles per gallon has significantly gone up

Whether CarBahn, my choice, or BM3 it is a noticeable difference. The pull from 5,200 to redline is worth it alone. Totally changes the car.

I wanted to bump this thread to ask, is there a quick way to determine if the DME has been updated by the dealer to the version that locked the DME?

My M2C was built in January, 2020. However, I bought it second hand w/8k miles on it at the beginning of this year and I am unsure if the previous owner had the dealer do any service that would have resulted in the DME getting locked.

If I'm able to, I would love to flash the BM3 CS tune.

Thanks. Apologies, I should have come back here to update that I found that thread like 5 minutes after posting.

Since my iSTEP level is old enough (F020-20-3-524) it appears I can get a bench unlock and flash BM3. However, I've discovered that I don't have any local shops that are capable of doing it nearby. I shipped my RS5's DME out to get unlocked a couple years ago. The down time wasn't a big deal. But there were a few days during the shipping process that the carrier thought they'd lost the package. I'm in no rush to go through that turmoil again.

I'm quite surprised at some of the guys here saying they expected more from the flash?

I'm correct in saying that in the US you measure all the power at the wheels? Even your CS flash gave you 428WHP so that makes around 480 give or take at the engine?

Even standard your car is reading very healthy.

Unless the dynos you are using are very generous? Over here a trip to the dyno is often a depressing drive home from the numbers you get
