In my country at a official BMW/Porsche/Mercedes/Ferrari/ etc dealer you always pay the normal market price. Dealer Markups must be USA thing?
yep. there are many documentaries about the corrupt nature of dealerships and how they work in the US.

It's a free market but I'm the one with the choice on how much I'll pay.
its just a norcal thing...to many rich ppl...most of my nor cal friends just buy cars in socal and just drive them back after a mini vacation.

Most of coastal so cal has a markup. Local dealer was still asking for an absurd markup. But if you are willing to drive a bit inland or to AZ, there are deals to be had.

I agree with the OP and find the practice insulting. Our local dealerships try to build relationships so that we come back and buy, and our friends buy, and our family buys ... from them.

My buddies and I were all buying M2c's so we could have matching track cars for DE events. We all race separately in arrive-and-drive events, but we wanted a fun car with more reasonable running costs for local DE fun. Looking around the country some dealers said they were all out of allocations (California), some wanted me to pay for allocations (Midwest), and in the end our Houston dealership locked in all 4 cars, no BS, and were awesome to deal with.
As one of your buddies who got an M2C from the same dealer: Dealer Markups should not be accommodated. Period.

i actually drove socal to get a lot of my cars. socal has a lot more competition compared to other states, some exceptions would probably be texas and nyc/nj.

i was pretty pissed since i negotiated a pretty smoking cpo m2 with M performance cf and other M performance extras deal at the BMW dealership in glendale, but the manager wouldn't sell it to me since i was out of state. I think he thought i was trying to export it to mexico when i told him i was in New Mexico. The sales manager wanted cash only when i told him New Mexico..lol

That's hilarious

You should have some fun with their ignorance; tell them they don't have to ship it, you plan to sneak it back over through one of El Chapo's secret tunnels.. He's your cousin..

So with the discount you end up paying MSRP after VAT.

There are no brand new 2019-2020 base M2s in production.
