M2 Muffler mod

Has anyone done the muffler mod on the stock exhaust? I have done it on an F30 M Performance muffler. Gutted the muffler, but left a littler perforation. Sounded great. Although a little metallic with catless. Sound very nice in stock exhaust. Would anyone be interested in something like this if I were to make one?

Can you explain the process?

OEM mod just replaces the perforated pipe with straight pipe.

OEM Mod below. More restriction, less sound.

I have to agree that this modification is loud but if you want PURE RACE CAR then ACM is the route. I love it and everyone I have met loves it. I have had compliments and shocked faces from people who spent thousands to realize they could get an amazing sound from OEM chopped up.

You literally remove some of the perforated tubing that quiets down the exhaust and replace it with solid tubing

I did it on my e92 M3 and it sounded epic. I haven't seen inside a stock M2 box yet, maybe one of the tuning houses that routinely replace these could open one up and take some pics?

E92 quad was fake, two pipes went through the box, just the tips split, the same as the M2.

This has been done. Someone on this board did it to their Alpine White, sent me pics of the process and it looks clean. His impressions on the sound were good also.

I'm thinking to go with this, next week.

If I pull the trigger I will post the images from the inside of the muffler chamber.

What about a bypass with an exhaust cut out valve on the right side of the rear muffler? Where the pipe attaches to the muffler. Just go pass it to the right exhaust tips? Its a mod I'm considering.

Like the markings on the picture.

My priority will be to keep it looking oem as possible, so containing it within the muffler, cut open from the top

Ofcourse, me too.

With the bypass behind the muffler it will look stock yet have a free flow when valve is opened. (Just added a pic to my last post)

With valve closed it will act/sound exactly as stock.
