It was really a throw on exercise, so no adjustment in height yet, hubcaps still to be mounted, final alignment to be done. Clearance on the front looks promising to be honest, ca 5mm between plane of wheel and adjustment nut of the MPE suspension (which is at factory settings). Seems we will get away without spacers, which is has my preference to be honest. Clearance at the rear quickly became sort of irrelevant, plenty as in 5+cm or so (to the shock)

Pretty happy already :-)

Front clearance, seems pretty ok

No idea why the tire looks dirty on the picture as it is brand new.

Hard to judge from this picture but there seems to be sufficient clearance seen from the top

Quick throw on

Car will be lowered another ca 1cm to get everything right and will do a proper shoot outside when the weather allows.

Just wanted to let you guys know it does seem to work with MPE suspension. Will keep an eye at the blue suspension collar irt the tire. The spring seems to be out of the equation and is sort of irrelevant to the clearance. Diamater of the shocktower + the support collar around it is, well, at least for the MPE it is, I could imagine a true coil over would need to be checked on sprint to tire clearance especially the sideways deflection of the spring under load, because that is what they tend to do.
Update:
Unfortunately we could not lower the car as the inner sidewall started making contact with the blue suspension collar. Time for a proper coilover set I would say It's not a big deal but it would just be a bit nicer to lower the car by 1cm , maybe 3mm spacers would also work.

I have Ohlins R&T from 3DM Motorsport with swift springs and millway street camber plates. So I can work camber to help but I've heard the Ohlins have less inner clearance so do I go with 19x9.5 ET28 and run small spacers or do I buy the 19x9.5 ET22 without spacers?
Any idea if the swift springs improve inner clearance or reduce the front stack height on the coilovers? Spring dimensions and lower perch height on the front struts are generally the main issue we see with the Ohlins from an inner clearance standpoint so if the swift setup is significantly slimmer/shorter than other Ohlins springs you may be able to run ET28 without spacers.

If its the same or similar to standard Ohlins, then the lower offset and additional negative camber would likely be the way to go.

In addition to that render, we also produced a video comparison for these new colors for our ongoing 20" Group Buy that you all may find useful to compare these finishes.

The 19x9 ET30 F and 19x10 ET40 R OE style fitment will be arriving in Motorsport Gold, but not Satin Bronze, at least not initially.

Woah, color is amazing. Will we be seeing 18x10 +25 fitments in this color and on other wheels or just the VS5RS?

3DM tells me the swift springs are basically the same outer diameter but the spring is about 20m shorter than stock Ohlins springs. So it sounds like I should have good clearance.

In comparing the two wheels, ET22 and ET28 show they have different face profiles. Is there a big difference in look?

Not really honestly as their offsets are similar.

19x9.5 ET22:

19x9.5 et28:

ET22 is definitely deeper, but not by a massive amount at least to my eye.

18x10 ET25 along with a number of the other 18" BMW VS-5RS wheels will be getting Satin Bronze added as an option but we may add this gold later on down the line. We'll also finally be releasing 18" EC-7RS fitments as well later this year.

Another update and better pictures from the Netherlands.
Picked the car up from the shop this aft and the wheels look jawdroppinglygood.

For your convenience the specs again:

2x APEX VS-5RS 19x9.5" ET28 satin black
2x APEX VS-5RS 19x10.5" ET45 satin black
2x MICHELIN CUP 2 265/30ZR19 (93Y) XL
2x MICHELIN CUP 2 295/30ZR19 (100Y) XL

MPE suspension at factory settings.

And some pictures showing the stance

Stance is just beautiful, as said, would like to go minus another cm, would require a coil over set, think I will go shopping at Team Schirmer in Germany.

Very happy with these wheels. Car just goes Padabum Tsjjjjjj over and over again LOL

Got to see these wheels in person over the weekend for the first time and I was absolutely shocked at how even more concave they are in person. Pretty much sold on these as my next wheels, nice job guys!

You can run the MPS without the rear adjuster and get another 12mm drop, and the front will go 12mm lower to match.

Or you can pick up the rear KWV3 spring set and lower it that way and keep your adjuster. That's what I did.

Our Black Friday sale is Live!

This sale includes our first 18” EC-7RS BMW wheels in our 3 best selling fitments of 18x9 ET30, 18x9.5 E35 and 18x10 ET25. They’re arriving in Early December, but be one of the first to lock in a set with a deep Black Friday discount.

Speaking of 18x10 ET25, we hope you’ll enjoy this look at 18x10 ET25 square on an E46 M3 featuring our VS-5RS wheels.

Wheels: 18x10 ET25 Front and Rear
Tires: 275/35-18 Nitto NT01s

This setup requires significant negative camber and often front spacers are required, but it’s a great option for track-focused E46s as well as being our most popular wheel setup for the E9X M3.

We're working on getting more of these as fast as we can!

Our VS-5RS is inbound with additional finish options and the release of our 20” fitments as well. Satin Bronze and Motorsport Gold round out the lineup and will become available in a wider variety of diameters and fitments as time goes on for those looking for a unique finish.

We have a number of 19" and 20" fitments already available in these 2 finishes. Standard production wheels will have the Satin Motorsport Gold option.

Motorsport Gold & Limited production Gloss Gold update

Motorsport Gold Render (standard production, Satin finish):

We also have a few limited production Gloss versions of this color available in a single staggered F87 M2 and F8X M3/4 fitment. These wheels were produced in our first run and have a clear coat applied that gives the surface a more shiny/reflective appearance:

Gloss Gold examples:

These limited production Gloss Wheels are only available in our 19” staggered fitment with 19x9 ET30 front and 19x10 ET40 Rear wheels. If you are interested in ordering a set of these gloss units, you’ll need to email expert@apexraceparts as they won’t be listed on our website. We’ll be offering a 10% discount on these orders while supplies last (Only 2 sets currently available). If you are interested, please include “Gloss Gold” in the subject line of your email and I can work with our team on your order!

I'll let you be the judge, but I think the non-gloss is probably closer to Frozen Gold:

Motorsport Gold & Limited Production Gloss Gold Comparison

Our last post showed off some bare wheel photos of our Limited Production Gloss Gold wheels, but we’ve seen a few requests for a comparison between our Standard Motorsport Gold and the Limited Gloss version. The differences are subtle but we hope this post helps to give you a better idea of how these 2 finishes compare

Motorsport Gold standard production, Satin finish:

BMW photos are coming in the future, but we hope you enjoy a look at this Porsche centerlock fitment in the same Motorsport Gold finish.

Gloss Gold Limited Production:

These wheels were produced in our first run and have a clear coat applied that give the surface a more shiny/reflective appearance:

Gloss Gold examples:

We hope you enjoyed this closer look at both colors! Let us know your thoughts and be sure to email in if you’re interested in our Gloss Gold sets

Motorsport Gold Fitments in Progress

We’ve added Satin Bronze as a finish option to a number of our VS-5RS wheels and now we’re expanding our Motorsport Gold finish to fitments beyond the OE F8X M2/3 & 4 fitment it’s already offered in. Many of you have asked for true photos to showcase the unique gold color and give you a better idea of what it looks like beyond the initial renderings.

Motorsport Gold standard production, Satin finish:

BMW photos are coming in the future, but we hope you enjoy a look at this Porsche centerlock fitment in the same Motorsport Gold finish.

Satin Bronze wheels

Finally had time to take some pics with the newish setup… these aren’t the best pics, but it gives you an idea to the fitment of the wheels. They work well on these cars!
