M2 sale price close to m4 reduced
Hi all,
So I’m shopping around, I’ve noticed that you can get an m4 that retails in the mid 70’s to sell for around high 60’s after incentives (fleet plus holiday) along with negotiating close to invoice. The best I got off an m2 was 1k, with no incentives. Anyone else finding it hard to justify when your less than 10k apart? Not trying to start a flame war, just wondering if i should spend a little extra and get an m4 at this price range. |

Most people here can probably afford the M4 but chose to get the M2. |

I have driven both, M4s with my close friends of M enthusiast but had a lucky chance to meet the own of M2 and test drove around the town. And was definietly in love with her already. M4/M3 are also in great promotion in Canada as well but if you want to still compare the price and the options that you may get, you will be ended up spending more than what you expect. M4/M3s are ones that drag you for more options (In my case, I will not lose on getting CP and full leather..) M2 is just there for the right spending compare to the experience that you will get by owning one at least IMO. If I can get a good bargen on E46 M3 with low mileage and great condition, my choice will be going towards her than F80,F82. |

For 99% of people it won't be a matter of cost, it'll be a matter of how the car drives.
As others said, most of us could probably get an M4 but chose the M2 because it's just a different experience. In addition, the M2 comes with all the options - an M4 with all the options too will cost WAY more than $70K. At the end of the day, the M2 is a niche car aimed at a market of enthusiasts who know exactly what they want from a car - the right amount of power, balance and agility. The M4 is a bathtub on crack. |

I was in the same position when I ordered my M2 last month; M3's can be had for good prices this time of year, even fully loaded. However, the M2 is still less, and the difference in price can be put to making the M2 truly yours and still have money left over after mods.
Even looking at a full Dinan Stage 2 package I still come in well under a discounted M3 competition package. That being said, if your desire is to only keep the car for a few years and want to lease, the M3 is a better option due to higher residual and better MF. |

I did some more math. My m2 build is $79190 msrp. If i get invoice plus fleet and holiday, I’m at 70539, with tax diff it’s $10421 from the m2. It’s further than I had thought after really breaking it down. You guys are right 10k is significant diff.
For those interested, the m4 I built had the exec package and dct, with minor additions. |

You mean M4 there? If not that's a hefty $ for an M2.

When I built the M3 with Comp Pack and all the options I wanted, it was about 77K. The M2 with everything is 60K. Even with incentives I can't justify the difference to myself. Also the M2 being he smaller more agile car, helped with the decision.

I had a chance to get a M4 built as liked and right away at dealer cost (really at dealer cost) and I chose to wait for the M2...and I am glad i did. it took just the track time at the PCD to verify I made the right choice.....

Damn you guys have it good. I'm paying 73k euros for my M2. M4s start at over 105k with no options.
Then again, a GT Mustang is over 100k here as well because of emissions taxes. Anything over 4 cylinders gets an absurd markup. |

I test drove an M4 and an M2 back to back. I walked away from the M4 thinking "If I wanted a boat, I'd at least buy something I can drive in the water." The M4 is a very nice freeway cruiser but just felt HUGE around town. No thanks. Not a price tag decision for me. it had everything to do with the driving experience.
