No more performance parts sales in NY

I was looking for some stainless manifolds for a Porsche and a seller listed the shipping as $999. I thought it was a mistake and contacted him. Here's his reply:

"Hello,
Thanks for contacting us, Due to eBay regulations we're no longer able to ship performance-related engine parts that may affect emissions in the state of California, New York, and Maine due to state law. For this reason, we've input the shipping rate to those states to $999.99 to avoid accidental purchases by residents from CA, NY, and ME."

I guess they won't accept a "Race use only waiver"

Time to relocate..

Yes. Several states close by and that's an easy work around.

Bigger issue I was bringing to light is the increase in regulation on ICE. Not likely to let up and other states may follow suit. In NY it started as a movement to address nuisance complaints (noise) and the result is a cramp on anything that changes the stock exhaust. Once the feds / epa get involved it will become a gray / black market to get mods done. Will likely work as well as the war on drugs. All they will do is create an underground economy and not get a dime of sales tax money as a result haha.

Soon we will be modifying our car exhausts with artificial exhaust sounds, enjoy this while we can. I think with most aftermarket exhausts for the S55, with the valved closed, it's pretty civilized. I think we can pretty much stay under the radar with the cops when driven carefully.
