iPhone Cradle Removal

OK, I've searched this M2 Forum and cannot find anything on removing the iPhone Cradle in the Center Armrest/Console. Does anyone have a link to the procedure on doing this? I performed this in my 2016 F30 and it came out OK. I didn't get to swap the cable from the headunit to provide a working USB in the glove box (the one that runs to the Cradle) but I got rid of the car before I made it happen. Is it the same procedure or is it different (the center console/armrest is not quite the same...).

If you have a link, that would be great. It not, then I'll figure it out and post up the instructions/pics when I make it happen.

This thread may be useful.

Wireless charger removal? https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1800009

Sounds like the steps are similar to removing in the f30.

Yep, the link referenced in there is the same one I used to remove the Cradle in my F30. And then there is the ACTUAL link I used on Pg 6 of that particular thread w/detailed pics/instruction. Thank You! I wonder if it's the same but if I don't get an answer, I guess we'll find out...

Finally done!

So it was almost exactly like the instructions for the F30, even using the same console mat (I guess I now know why I ordered two!). The only difference was there was absolutely NO room with the vent tube in there so had to pull that to be able to maneuver the cables so had to pull that. But other than that, it was exactly the same. Here is the post I used:

Just did this job the other day. Some guys go through the trouble of removing all the wires with the cradle, but it's not necessary so I didn't bother, just tucked them underneath.

This is literally a $41 dollar, 5 minute job to get more room in your center console.

First you'll need to order the OE mat (PN: 51-16-9-227-902), which you can get from getbmwparts.com (screen cap included).

The process itself is super simple.

1. Use a bent trim tool to wedge between the cradle and console creating a small space
2. Use a screwdriver in that space to hold it open
3. Use a pair of pliers to grab the cradle and yank upwards and pull it out
4. Pull off the one wire that has a connector
5. Cut the other wire that has no connector
6. Put a piece of black electrical tape on the wire you cut that stays with the car and tuck it down into the hole from whence it came.
