My M4 calipers turned aqua marine color, up front, after about my third track day with Pagid RSL-1 pads. The M cars really need a factory brake cooling set-up like porsche uses, especially w/the weight of these cars. My M2 is on it's second track day, with PFC-08 pads and I've been very careful to run an extra cool down lap and then drive the paddock area for 5 minutes to get as much airflow to them as possible. So far so good, but I fear they may not be blue for long...

How much does that company charge to paint them? Have any hardcore track rats actually verified their claims that the paint doesn't change color under hard track use?

I just got new calipers under warranty due to their discoloration.
To prevent the new ones going brown/green too I'm upgrading the cooling with scoops. Hope it's enough, but I doubt it. |

You should at least get a front BBK and put the new OE calipers on the shelf for when you sell the car. From watching temps, I think just the larger front kit will keep the rears from changing color, but I don’t know for sure. |

A guy working with 3D printing is helping to make a scoop design. I made a test dummy from assorted parts and glue to see what dimensions would work. Hope to have a design that you can download and print yourself in a few weeks or so. https://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1527042#1527042

There’s a reason that owners of cars with red Brembo calipers call them “Brownbos” after enough time at the track.

First time around I actually informed BMW that due to a number of M2s had already had their discs and pads replaced under warranty after smearing after trackdays I had upgraded to Pagids to prevent this problem. And that the calipers turned green/brown. After A LOT of going back and fourth and after over a year passing they exchanged the calipers which actually was NOT what I had asked for, what was the point, they would just turn brown too. Which they did of course. My request was nothing more than asking for a reply to "do you think miscoloration is okay, just live with it. Or this is not OK (so how are you going to fix this?" So I'm just waiting to see how they will try to wiggle out of this. |

The whole warranty thing with a tuned car is a tough one. I want to have the green calipers and stock pads warrantied during my 10k service but at the same time I'm worried that by filing a claim they'll then investigate other parts of my car I don't want them to.. leading to a potential flag |

Is everybody just accepting this? No one taking a fight with BMW? I'm still arguing with them...
Currently they are denying to do anything but also refusing to give any reasoning on why the warranty wouldn't cover it. - "It's not covered" - "Why?" - "It's not covered" - "But why?" - silence... I'll probably get an explanation but it's taken a stupdidly long time so far... Last edited by MagnusT; 12-20-2018 at 12:25 AM.. |

To replace them with the exact same caliper/paint was pretty useless, not something I either wanted or requested, but they sort of insisted. |
