metrickid's Alpine white BMW M2 - random photos

Yo guys,

I mostly posted on Instagram the last few months so I figured it was time to do a quick summary of some of the photos taken. I'll add more photos now and then going forward as I stopped posting on Instagram.

All photos are taken with a Sony A7II and are edited by me in Lightroom mainly but some Photoshop work too.

Why no instagram anymore? Not that I care that much, but everyone's got a car account on ig, heard it's a nice way to make some money apparently lol.

Great car and photos! Are those FF01s? Such a good looking wheel on the M2. Any plans to wrap the roof?

Got tired of people buying likes to get to the top photos of the day which limits reach for normal users. Also people liked the photos for the wrong reason, I had the account to improve my photography and editing skills but people didn't care about that.

Yeah, you get a lot of offers to promote stuff but I didn't care about that either.

As above. People just wasn't interested in it for the same reasons as I was.

Thanks. They are R101's.
No plans to wrap the roof. Just looks silly when you have a moonroof.

Kudos to doing tasteful mods! Those wheels look awesome. What size rubbers are they wearing?

It's a shady place, social media. But, we don't have to go to Instagram to see sponsored shit, just have a look around Bimmerpost. These kind of people should have labels stating companies are paying for their shit because when other forum users ask them their experience with product XYZ they will, obviously, say only the good things. Just like YouTubers. Ads disguised as vlogs and "reviews."

Thank you. I'm actually using the stock tires on my HRE's, they are too 9" front and 10" rear.

Yeah, I know. I work in the industry so I knew how it worked but it still was crazy how fast companies tried to promote stuff through you. As soon as I passed 1000 followers the offers started coming. It's quite easy to spot if you follow more than one account because they sponsor so many cars... It's almost laughable with all the Adams Polishes, Ventgripz etc sponsored posts.

Damn. I mean, it's all good if none of the Arab sheikhs offered you a first-class flight to the UAE to have sex with him for money.

This one is probably the most laughable one.

Good to see you back over here.

By the way, the fancy 'Lorenzo pictures' of my M2 popping up over here at Bimmerpost from time to time = sheer luck for me that the current owner of my former 1M has skilled hands behind the lens and equally has an altruistic mind to share his pics.

Indeed, it's getting a little fuzzy lately. A lot of credibility gets tarnished by the data mining and "Money For Likes" or "Money For Views" honey trap business model that's polluting more and more websites. Information diluted and twisted (in)to infomercials.

On a personal level, I pay every cent of all my stuff and trips with my own earned money and want to keep it that way. Not one single item on my car is sponsored. I don't want no Instagram, Twitter, YouTube channel, 'interviews' or sponsor deals + ain't affiliated to BMW (I don't work in the car industry). Best way to keep my full independence. Also zero fees or fringe benefits for me over here at Bimmerpost - on exactly the same footing as any other forum fellow.

Actually, who I am is irrelevant. Eager to permanently learn about cars (and about my own cars in particular) and glad to help if I can (no quid pro quo required): that's what matters for me in the end.

Yeah, I haven't received a cent in discount on any of my parts as a sponsor deal either. As I said above, I do it to improve my own skills and to get appreciation for that. But on Instagram everyone just "likes" photos if they have cool/expensive stuff in it so the hard work in itself isn't what counts. I put in about 2-3h per day to take, edit and post my images and people were just as eager to like my images as a boring cell phone picture as long as it showed some expensive wheels.

You could almost believe I work for BMW as they reposted my images A LOT.

Great photos and also editing skills.

I also had a Sony A7RII and it was an amazing camera. I sold my D750 for one.
Also, kudos on the M2 - I also have a white one arriving in December.

Awesome.. my BMW dealer says I need to install the CF front & side splitters and not the CF rear spoiler on it's own.

Can you confirm if this is the case?

Hows' the M-perf suspension ? Do you track it often?

The sides are just cosmetic but the fronts do add a bit according to BMW M engineers (real people and not just marketing) and are recommended to pair with the rear spoiler.

I like the MPS, at the recommended setting it is quite close to stock comfort but still planted and awesome. I don't track my car at all, I did it only for lowering the car and won't put springs on a M car.

Are there any issues with just the rear spoiler on its own?

Bet you must be grinning away with the akrapovic exhaust! Sounds tremendous from the videos.
