Drove a manual M2. Top of my shoe rubbed the upper panel. Anyone experience this?
Hi,
This weekend, I test drove a beautiful 2020 M2 is silver. The car looks incredible in the Hockenheim silver metallic. Whenever I pushed in the clutch, the upper part of my shoe would rub against the upper plastic panel. It didn’t interfere too much with my shifting but it was a little annoying. I could reposition my foot (or maybe not push the clutch in all the way), but curious, have others experienced this? Any solution? I wear a size 12. I know it’s a silly-sounding question. Thanks |

I have a size 12 and I've never noticed this however, the reason the previous owner of my car sold it (at 3500 miles) was because his son's size 13 did not like the clutch pedal either somehow.
I'm good with it. |

I wear a size 13 and have noticed it with certain shoes which have a high toe area. My primary shoes are tennis shoes that don't hit. Although more for track and autocross, BMW Motorsport driving shoes appear to have a low toe.

I wear a 12 normally, but 13 in running shoes, and have driven my car a number of times while wearing my running shoes. I've never noticed any rubbing before, but probably will now. Thanks for that.

However, since my driving skills are beyond reproach, I blame the crooked seats If you do decide to get a M2 you might want to look into the Ultimate Clutch Pedal (although to be honest I don't know if it would make the situation better or worse for you) http://www.ultimateclutchpedal.com Last edited by 2020M2Competition; 05-12-2020 at 03:07 PM.. Yeah you need some nice thin driving shoes down in this pedal box.
I'm size 12 and some of my chunkier shoes are a no go. It's to the point that I've changed my whole style in the last year to suit my driving habits lol. |

I'm a size 12 or 13 (depending on the shoe) and most of my shoes create problems.

Yeah it happens to me too, you're going to have to push the clutch pedal with your foot angled so that only the upper part of your foot (upper mid foot and toes) engage the pedal.

Yes, happens to me too, and I’m a petite size 11. The Ultimate Clutch Pedal didn’t help with this clearance issue, but it sure did get rid of the annoying inches of dead space travel and lack of feel in the stock clutch pedal.
I’ve also noticed that the clutch and brake pedals seem a bit too close to each other, so that I occasionally catch the edge of the brake when depressing the clutch pedal. Makes for an unpleasant surprise when you’re accelerating up an on-ramp, shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and you accidentally tap the brake. Sneakers/trainers or other shoes with a wider toe box make this a real annoyance.
