THIS!!! I actually think it's coming from the area between the passenger seats, that plastic tray in the middle. Haha, it doesn't really bother me that much, but it's definitely noticeable. I notice it the most when I'm listening to a podcast on a nice morning commute to work. When I'm hooning the thing, I don't really care, haha.

I have a clicking noise which comes from the centre console, when I open the lid it disappears. Going to report it to my service centre when I next take it in.

I have 2 or 3 annoying rattles, the passenger seat back/ something on the back seats one for sure but my most annoying one is a very loud buzzing/resonance thing I get at around 3000rpm....sounds like it's coming from under the gear lever area but just when I think I've nailed exactly where it's coming from it pops up in another area!! I need to take out a front and rear passenger and have them investigate while I drive!!

If you mean a kind of discreet 'zinging' resonance buzz (no 'rattle') between 2800 and 3000rpm (if I hold rpm in that zone, it keeps discreetly 'zinging' - under and above that zone: zero 'zinging'): I got that too since day 1 and fail to locate exactly where it comes from, but it clearly comes from somewhere near the back seats. Checked seat belt buckles in the back, back seats head rests, the armrest in the back, cupholder inside the rear armrest, etc.

Maybe it's related to the M Performance Exhaust or the internals of the moonroof (panel making contact) or one of the loudspeakers mounted behind the back seats ?

Many years ago I remember encountering a discreet buzzing noise that was hard to locate. Turned out to be a spring inside the passenger seat belt buckle: as soon as I buckled that seat belt, the buzzing stopped. Found it out when asking someone to check it and could not replicate it of course ...because the person in the passenger seat had its seat belt buckled.

Yep, exactly as you describe, it's not a rattle, it's like a wasp at 2,800-3,000rpm. I don't have MPE but have recently fitted Fabspeed sport cat and m performance wheel with carbon trim. Noise wasn't there from day one and I'm thinking I first became aware after the sport cat, it is making a resonance and vibing something inside the car.

I have the center console / passenger dash / glovebox area rattle. I haven't isolated the source yet. I pressed on the fake carbon fiber strip on the passenger dash and I think that could be it but not sure.

Off topic, but FYI. It's not actually fake carbon...

Haha! Well I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm used to all my cars coming with fake carbon.

I have this also, I notice it when the car stop / starts - I thought it was coming from the DCT stick? I will try lifting the centre console lid tomorrow.

Dealer took out the dash on my car. They say it was a bad weld. They'll need to re-enforce it with another weld. Does this make any sense?

AutoBild interview with BMW M M2 Project Leader Frank Isenberg (March 2016): @ 05:02 and 05:58: "That is real carbon, yes." ("Das ist echtes Karbon, ja."):

I had that too. Two drops of super glue to the LATCH cover on the passenger side rear took care of it.

Here is some video. Very annoying noise. Sounds like a 15,000 car. Haha

I'm going to have them address the issue during my break in service. I'm @ about 950mi.

I never like letting a tech tear apart my new car's dashboard, but that sound drives me nuts.

I thought the discussion here about normal rattle that happens on %80 of new cars. But this is way too much for a new car !

The wasp sound for me occurs between 2100-2300 rpm. I also have MPE. I have narrowed it down to the back most point of the middle arm shelf of the passenger and driver doors. If I depress the door card inward just below those arm shelf points it all goes away. I also thought it was coming from the shifter, dash or glove compartment. I also have the rear deck-lid buzz as described in previous posts.

The other fix for all of these buzzes, wasp's and rattles is to simply drop it in gear and drive!
