It will be a beast because of carbon roof and HUD???
It will be a beast because of the S58 in a smaller car. The carbon buckets, roof, and things like HUD will make it an awesome package.

I often feel like an outlier here on this forum but...

1) the last thing I want in a daily driver are carbon buckets
2) Roof and HUD are cool additions but don't really change the experience
3) the s58 is a beast but there is a false assumption that the S55 isn't... the s55 can rev higher and is paired with a much more fun DCT... it also has more down low grunt... a consistent complaint of the S58... you can also seriously tune the S55 since its massively detuned...

I think the real advantage in the new M2 would come from a slightly longer and more stable chassis... then hopefully they fixed the bouncy suspension which would make it easier to track... but truth be told if you put the same width tire sizes on the current gen m3 w m perf coils... i dare say it will be close... almost everything else seems like marketing.

I'm definitely in the minority but I actually would have liked an xDrive version LOL

My next logical upgrade is probably the G80 but likely not until the facelift at the earliest.

Upgrading in general is a bit tough for me right now because the F87 M2C is in a very interesting spot on the price scale. It's just so much car for the $. It looks great and it's a blast to drive. The value is amazing right now.

Like others have said, my M2C is a lot of car for the money, especially now. I got mine in 2019 for around $58k (2020 MY/ED pricing) plus with covid, I barely drove it (currently at 18k miles) so I will hold on to it as long as I can. It will probably be my last ICE car. Lastly, I have some great memories driving it across Europe why get rid of it for the G87.

Agreed, for me it was a no-brainer and definitely the best car in the price range. However I think the G87 coming in around $70-75k mark with options will also be a great value. Not sure of any more appealing new car in that range, spec wise

"Spec wise" is the key phrase there for me. You don't drive "specs", you don't look at "specs". Bigger, heavier, ugly as sin & more expensive = I don't care what the numbers say, I'll stick with the F87 and be much happier than I would be with a G87.

I'm sure it will be a great car and a success sales-wise. I would never shit on anyone for choosing it. But it's not for me.

My counter argument to that is: if the driving portion of a car is so important, how can you already make a decision when not one of us has even driven the car?

Not here to disagree with you, as my excitement level is nowhere near where it was when the OG M2 was being tested for what it's worth. Having driven the G8x a few times, I think there is something there to look forward to and not completely dismiss the car from purely a driving perspective.

Design and cost is another topic completely IMO.

The F87 was just at the sweet spot in terms of what you got for the value… the G87 may perhaps have a better engine but, in my opinion, it will not look quite as amazing as the F87….and with its heavier weight, much inflated price, and potentially a more numb steering feel (as suggested by some early reviewers) it's less enticing as it's predecessor… then again, much remains to be revealed

Huh? I will certainly be driving the S58, enjoying more power (~650hp with dp and tune) sitting in the seats, looking and them and the roof. How do I not drive/look at those specs?

Funny you say ugly as sin when we still haven't seen the non-camo front end. Having never driven or even seen one yet, you seem a bit biased. But hey, to each their own. F87 will always be a great car.

Agreed...
I have a feeling the G87 will look really good once lowered with some aftermarket wheels and carbon. The front, well time will tell once we get real pics. I'm a little disappointed there won't be any type of BMW style halos. I will say - I thought the G80's were going to stay ugly, but having seen them fully modded now they look quite good IMO. I think we see the same thing here.

After driving a couple G80's I don't think they're as 'numb' feeling as I was afraid they'd be. I think with the shorter wheelbase the G87 will still be a blast to drive.

I hate being one of those people who initially hates on a new generation model and then jumps on the bandwagon after to praise it but damn it, as much as I was hoping the G87 was going to be an eye sore, it looks damn good and now I'm very confused and considering trading in my OG M2 for one…. So far the only thing that my OG M2 wins on is the amazing exhaust sound which no other current BMW beats… does anyone know if the S58 can be made to sound somewhat close to the N55 exhaust? At least it does sound better than the S55

If I didn't already own a F87, I would definitely consider the G87.

I actually like the exterior design (I'd make mine TR) now that it's been revealed, not a fan of the gauges but that is forgiven with a 6MT/RWD.

My 2021 M2C has fewer than 10K miles on it, so too new to entertain selling. In my opinion, the F87 body style didn't need to be ended or "updated". It didn't look tired, wasn't a low sales performer and still holds up in my opinion. Having not spent any seat time in the new G87 I can't speak to its performance or if it feels "better" than the F87. I do know, at least to my eyes, it does not look better. That's a personal choice and I certainly won't knock anyone who feel otherwise.
I will NOT be selling mine anytime in the near future....its the same thing I said when I bought my E34 M5 in 1998, and I still own and drive it today. (104k miles).
Time will tell but I think these F87's, especially the Comps and CS's will be sought after in the future.

Still have 3 more years on my loan. I hope when my 21 is paid off there will be a comp version out. If not I will look at getting a 718 T

no go for me. the G-series didn't improve enough off the last gen. heavier, uglier, worse automatic, same manual, still a 3.0tt, physically larger car.

in the past when M3 generations changed we got a new engine, or a better trans going from auto to smg to dct, and they kept weight down.

its the same problem i have with the 992 gt3, the only thing better is the double wishbone front. they just carried over the engine, trans, and kept the weight the same. they are pulling better laps due to better tires and extra downforce.

the only company that has made improvements to the next gen is the c8 corvette.

I would consider it simply because I think it will be a better overall car... yea its a bit ugly but in black it will look solid.

I think the longer chassis, more stable suspension and the S58 will actually make it a very solid performer as opposed to a drunken wild child... this is ultimately what I am looking for and judging by the G80, it could be a little monster.

Having seen the G 2-series on the roads around me...I'm always looking back twice at it and thinking "jesus, how did they make the new 2 series even uglier than the 3 and 4 series?"

BMW...what are you doing...its getting embarrassing!

I was....until the dealer told me that all the current 2 and 3 series (including Ms) are made in Mexico. So, nah.

I hunt down a preowned M2 comp and all good.

Trying to like it as I want to try the S58 but the looks are just pretty ugly from most angles and 3800+ pounds seems nuts.
