I watched this and it was a good review. Interesting how he calls the M2 very controllable and others call it snappy. He also referenced it as having a long wheelbase, but at 3600lbs it requires attention with tire placement.

By tire placement I mean how the car is transitioned into corners. Seems the quick transfer of weight onto the tires results in less slide. Once a slide starts the weight of the car takes over. My 2 cents on interpretation of what I watched/heard.

Any reference for other lap times at that track.

I’ve watched a few of his reviews, they’re good. Aside from being a successful race car driver, he seems like a genuine car enthusiast and a gentleman. This M2 Comp video is well done, though I would have enjoyed hearing his opinion about the manual version.

It looks to be competitive but.... Being different days and conditions, a few .10s are a likely variance compared to its peers. I'd say big HP helps on the track given the long straight. Also the M2C is limited by the PSS tires. PS4S or PSC2s would make a difference and bump it up a few places I bet.

I haven't found that the M2C is snappy at all...quite the contrary in fact. Then again all my autocross and track events (all DSC off of course) have been run with RE71Rs which are of course miles more sticky than the PSS. In high speed corners (+50mph) I was initially a bit cautious, maybe 9.5/10ths type driving, trying to stay on the left of the peak tire grip graph, but after some experience with the car and the S55 response, it's ridiculously easy to control the tail. Lots of communication, excellent feedback. I spent a number of hours on the 1/2 mile skidpad at Michelin proving grounds too shaking the car down, and it was crazy easy to hold a 60+ mph drift for more than a 1/2 mile...no snappiness at all in the wet (this was on PSS). Similarly, driving the car to the limit of adhesion on the skidpad and holding it there was very easy also (i.e. fastest lap, no drifting type driving).

I'm hoping they do another event soon and I can get my M2C down there.

Yeah, in my limited, anecdotal experience the M2C is anything but snappy. Is the rear end mobile? Absolutely! It moves all over the place! But those movements happen in a smooth and controllable manner and the steering ratio is quite quick and intuitive.

Its not a car for beginners, but its a GREAT car for intermediate or advanced drivers. If you know your way around a slide the car is easy as hell to drive. But if you're not experienced in that area, yeah. The thing is going to feel sketchy.

I would love to see the car on a more track focused tire. The tires it comes with are actually really good on the street. I haven't found any issues with it at all in the rain. Honestly, with a Cup 2, i would imagine it being closer to a Cayman GTS time.

I caught that too and I believe he made a mistake.

The PS4S have the velvety texture on the sidewall markings like the PSC2, the tires in the video don't have it, so they are most likely the stock PSS.

They were PSS like the car comes with...you can see they are PSS in his video showing the wheels/brakes.

One was going to happen in April until you know what happened.

You could say the same for the GTS though, which does not come with Cup 2s either. In fact, it doesn't even come with a tire as good as PSS usually.

Not trying to knock the M2C, but we have to accept the car is not perfect. It's posting a respectable time here, but it is within the margin of error of a Z4 M40i, which is not even an M car and doesn't have a fixed roof!

Yup. The M2 comp is a fantastic car as far as dual-purpose vehicles go. Not looking completely outmatched by a purpose built sports car is really the most anyone should be expecting out of a car this practical.

Almost identical lap time, 0-60 and 1/4 times with the B58 Z4 M40i, although he didn't really like the soft/slow steering. I think they come stock with PSS as well.

Cool review but is this guy paid by BMW? I mean, I absolutely love the M2 but the guy had literally nothing bad to say about it. He merely alluded that it's a heavy car and that was about it. Surely for someone who is a racing driver and can feel every nuance of a car's behaviour he would have some ideas for improvement or niggles he would change? Seems like a paid advert to me.

I watched a number of his video reviews, he doesn't say anything bad about any car. For example, check out the Mazda 3 Hatchback review -- loves the car.

Loved the review, wish the M2C was on Cup 2’s though. Thanks for posting OP, never watched his vids, now I’m subbed.

I really like his videos, he makes good honest reviews plus he has the creds for the track driving.
