People can hate Shmee but that guy works incredibly hard and has carved out a great niche for himself. Plus, he's the only one so far that at least given some M2cs content. I don't regularly watch his stuff but can at least admire him for what he has built.
Now Doug on the other hand. How can anyone hate him? He invariably makes me laugh and he OWNS his format which is like McDonalds. It's convenient and you always know what you are going to get. |

It is hard work getting Shmee150 to run and be profitable on a daily basis, but we are managing well now and the last few years. The content we are doing is more focused on a wider audience and less the audience here on the in-depth forums and the Facebook groups. You need to position content wider and less specific to be successful in the automotive space. Pure opinionated journalism has never been the aim for Shmee150... I still do it once in a while, but I wasn't given an option to drive the M2 CS else you would not have had a written review from my end here somewhere on the forum with my thoughts. The main thing for us to share the experience, tell the world from young to old about the 30 minutes with the car, and give it an initial look. Nothing more really... In-depth handling and driving input won't ever come from any influencer like Shmee150 or any of the others at the same position in the automotive market because it is not what the general audience wants to see. He or she shares his or her personal experience with you as an enthusiast and touches on things he or she notices more in the direction of entertainment. There is never a fully qualified opinion that touches on all aspects such as a journalist does. I know the difference between both since I was a freelance journalist and drove many cars giving a valued opinion. This is not something an influencer pumping out at a constant stream of content would easily do, because it is not required to be successful. It is too niche so to speak... Oh and the DougScore is there because Doug is a journalist not an enthusiast who started to make videos. MR Last edited by MR.; 07-04-2020 at 02:58 PM.. |

He is 'Shmarc', Tim's manager. So when he says we, he is talking about Tim and himself

Good for them, from what I understand, YTing it can be very lucrative, you're doing something you enjoy and you're enhancing online presences and clout. I support it and as must crap I'd take about Shmee, he did get the first POV drive of the CS and I'm at least grateful somebody delivered, giving credit where it's due.. |

Shmee150 drove a modified M2CS on the 'Ring. He just released the video yesterday.

I like Tim aka "Shmee" videos. The one-piece of advice I would give him is to come to Los Angeles for 6 months and take on-camera classes. Giving a great presentation on camera looks easy, but I assure you it is not. I have to give him and Doug D credit for what they have built and the millions of followers they have amassed. If it were easy to get millions of followers for your car reviews then anyone could do it, right? Truth be told, most of the people criticizing these guys would not be able to present a video half as well as they do.

I do not know for certain, but I think it is safe to suggest few, if any, have more laps on the Nurburgring than Robert. . . he flies around the ring and makes it look effortless. Never appears close, as they say, to ‘running out of talent.’
Speaking of which, lots of comments about Shmee on the heels of his M2CS track review. In fairness, like the M2C, the M2CS is a heifer with a loose rear end. Most said the same thing about Farah’s ability when he described the M2C as a ‘frustrating drift machine.’ Sure, neither Shmee or Farah are professional racers . . . then again, neither are most who own an M2C or M2CS. Moving forward a few weeks, Shmee looks pretty good on the Nurburgring in his Ford GT. . . admittedly, a $500K sport car can really fill the talent tank, but not sure many would have the balls to push a $500K car around the Nurburgring? ///AVM Last edited by ///AVM; 07-21-2020 at 01:15 PM.. |
