Screens for track debris ?
Someone posted up a link awhile back for a vendor who was offering metal mesh screens pre-cut for the front grill openings ? Can’t seem to find it. Anyone have that link ?
Alternately..anyone work out an elegant DIY solution ? |

I'd say that is a viable solution but it looks like it is really meant to replace the existing grill. Not that I love the look of what is there but that mesh just isn't my cup of tea. I'd really like something harder to see or removable.
I'm going to see if I can't make up something that can be temporarily put into place from the outside. Hopefully it will be rigid enough to hold shape and stop small rocks and rubber marbles but not so beefy as to reduce a ton of flow area. I've ordered samples from McMaster Carr. Don't forget about the wheel wells also. |

I’ve installed some black anodised aluminium mesh bought from a general auto parts store. Removing the bumper isn’t difficult, after cutting the mesh to size I fixed it with cable ties. I did it mainly for rocks on country drives, have twice been with other M2’s that suffered broken coolant/oil radiators from hits but it also stops 99% of the debris getting in. No affect on cooling.
