I like the idea, i hate the execution

This car COULD'VE been:
- stripped out, lightweight version of f87 chassis
- tuned 450hp/450lb-ft with track mode
- 255/275 tires standard
etc

Instead, it seems like it is basically a M2C with:
- CF roof
- power dome, and some MP goodies
- bump in HP/Lb-ft, but without a huge performance gain (according to numbers posted, 0-60, etc)

The only thing I REALLY like about this car is the seats:

BEAUTIFUL!! Needs a little drop. I'd swap out the adaptive dampers for some Ohlins R&T and ditch the eLSD for a mechanical LSD and call it a day.

Sadly it looks like I’ll be headed to lotus after all...
Looks lovely though, so will maybe pick one up in a few years time when they’re circa £30k

Beautiful! As I’ve been saying since the beginning, Misano looks awesome.
Will be some lucky owners that score these!

As expected. It will be an incredible car. My like will be determined by its cost of admission.

Adding these components to an existing 2C (as some have suggested) would not be cost effective by any means. The loss of warranty and residual value only add to this.
Oh no. That's a cop out!

Whatever happened to BMW wanting be more profitable while still catering to the fan/enthusiast community?

When they started making all these SUVs/SAVs people rationalized it was because they needed bigger profit margins! But don't worry the core models they said! , the good old M models will still be there for us. Especially the niche models like the M2? What happened to that?

I do not see any of that BIG profit making it down to the core models.

Now here we are, the M model that caters to all the hardcore fans. Made into another ///Marketing exercise. Please someone look me in the eyes and tell me straight up: "This is car is worth every penny of a 100k". Someone please do it because I cannot see it, no matter how hard I try.

IDK maybe I'm missing something, but this car caters to no one except BMW's ego.

I like the MB more than I thought but those red calipers and gold wheels DO NOT go with the paint at all. I'd probably go BSM or HS with black wheels to tone down some of the flashiness... like others have said, a lot of it isn't new (the sub-frame bolted directly to the chassis for instance) but I'm glad they finally added a CF roof and better [Merino] leather (the two options from my previous E92/F80 I miss the most). Honestly not feeling the CS spoiler as much as I was thinking I would (I love it on the M3 CS).

Other than that, I don't think it'll be worth the asking price. For anything >$75k I'm going G80 M3. I know, they aren't direct competitors but for my use-case, that's where my money would go.

Don't confuse what I would have liked BMW to build with what they did build.

As you copied me above, I will add I never said the car was worth $100k.

High gloss black wheel standard. Matte gold wheel optional. The way they describe it looks like they know the gloss/matte difference.

But, isn't the 763m black matte? Or is the gloss black here specially for the M2 CS like the grey for the M4 CS?

Just returned from Porsche. I think a Cayenne Coupe Turbo light weight pack and a 911 Carrara 4s is just what the doctor ordered.

The quality is there.

The blue looks good in these photos.

Love the car, really wish I had a chance to get one but I know I won't.

Still hate the gold wheels.

It won't get anywhere due to it is limited nature. It is not limited enough to fuel the interest of a large group of collectors and too expensive for enthusiasts that want the ultimate M model, but are able to pick up brand new M3 and M4 CS models for 10-20K less than the M2 CS.

There are still brand new M3 / M4 CS cars parked across showrooms and dealer garages simply unsold because they were too expensive. 6 months ago I got offered a brand spanking new M4 CS for less than 90K EUR incl VAT. It was a 130K EUR car, I believe...

Also think about the fact that you can get a M2C with up to 20% off right now around dealers in Europe. Those discounts are not happening on the M2 CS initially, so why would someone get a M2 CS if he isn't a collector, has a bank account the size of an oil tanker or is absolutely mad about the car.

Don't get fooled by BMW saying they sold all 2000 pieces! This means to importers and dealers, not to customers. They are playing the same game with the new GP3, saying they sold half the bunch already. I said to MINI "To dealers yes, not to customers, and it became really silent at the other end of the conversation".

MR
Totally agree. I pulled my deposit on the M2 CS due to the M4 CS and M3 CS not selling well. I’m gonna go sit back and see how well it sells and maybe get one with a discount after 6-12 months. Also next year the U.S. might have its next recession so add everything up and the M2 CS might not sell well since the regular M2 is selling at invoice and the CS is not that far apart from the M2 IMO.

I think the red is meant to tie in with the red stitch on the interior.

Really not a fan of the red stitch in the interior. At least the brake calipers can be resprayed in any color.

Still not going to bite. Standard CF roof is cool, but as someone else already pointed out, this is what the original M2 should have been to begin with. It doesn't feel right that it's now a very limited production car with an inflated price tag and the idiotic, redundant "Competition Sport" moniker. Also, the seats don't even have shoulder harness pass-throughs for using a Schroth Quick Fit harness on the track. That's a slap in the face if you ask me considering the car is supposed to be track-oriented! Maybe next time, BMW.

One nitpick for me is the alcantara steering wheel. I wish it would have been optional. It's going to wear so quickly and become gross in a matter of months with daily use.

Hopefully it can be replaced with the standard leather wheel at a reasonable price.

Oh man, I missed that detail.

I was hoping it would be optional to retain the heated wheel.... . It seems like m2 comp is the sweet spot.

It will will depend on the price. .......

San Marino Blue all day! Disappointed in the launch color in the M2 CS. LBB is way better than Misano Blue.

I want to keep my M2C DD capabilities, but tweak it for the track. Will we eventually be able to get the spoiler and hood from BMW or will we have to settle for knock off parts?

I heard sometimes special edition cars require a vin check before the order will be processed.
