M2 bootmod3

I just installed a catless downpipe on my car and was told to get a tune asap(bm3 specifically) to not get some kind of turbo failure or something similar. The guys that installed my downpipe are authenticated resellers of bm3 but I was quoted 1060 USD for this flash tune(installed) which for me seems to be a lot for a "flash tune"?? When looking at protuningfreaks website I see it costs 595 USD which is significantly less. I have no experience in tunes or flashes since earlier so I dont know which route to go through, tips?

When installing the downpipe I was just out for the sound and extra bangs and it does sound mental right now, but if it makes my car healthier I would get the bm3 tune. I'm not out for more power really, just a healthy car and perhaps if it now "has" to get a power upgrade. Any tips is appreciated Thanks!

Just get BM3 from Mike at PTF. If you send him a PM he might offer you a special price for being a member.

I’m not sure why your shop would charge anywhere near that to supply and install.

Once you download the Ap and another program needed it takes about 10 minutes to load the initial map and you’re away.

I know someone very well who has done it and “he” highly recommends it. With no mods the stage 1 93map is amazing!

“His” car is going on the Dino tomorrow!

You will not have turbo failure from running a catless downpipe without a tune. If anything, you're putting less stress on the turbo. The ECU is smart enough to adjust for the increased flow but you might find that your idle is not as smooth as stock. Aside from the CEL, it is fine to run catless without a tune. I did it on my 340i for a year and on my M2 now for almost 5 months. It just isn't ideal and you don't really see the benefits of going catless until you tune.

If you have the ability to tune and are not worried about warranty, then absolutely get bootmod3. It will completely transform the car for the better. No need to run a custom tune yet, just buy from xtreme powerhouse or PTF and run an off-the-shelf tune.

Lol, run. Shop is ripping you off. BM3 is $600 and any 8 year old with a laptop can install it.

Worth every penny btw.

You'll also need the Akrapovic exhaust or those downpipes will utterly (pun intended) destroy your original muffler. Exhaust and install will be $8599.50. Thank me later. - Swedish con artist

Too late, he doesn’t really care too much about that type of thing but thought he’d have a look see anyway.

I can tell you though, I have driven his car and the difference is unbelievable!

Did he flashed stage 1 or 2? Because you’ve said that hè only installed a DP

I also did it on my previous 340 and the impression I have of just having a catless downpipe is that the throttle and shifting feels just a slight but noticeable delay. I am very happy with where it is now sound wise but would like to get rid of the CEL in case there would be another problem, but at the same time while I’m still gettting it I’d like a stage1+extra burbles

Their price was stupid.. support from PTF was on top, got it all set up, explained and configured through a teamviewer in less than 30 min👍🏽
