12v recepticle between cup holders

Thoughts on how to make the 12v receptacle between the cup holders switched so that the radar detector will turn off with the accessories or ignition?

It receives power from fuse 66, which is on terminal 30B. You can do what you want if you connect it to a fuse which is on terminal 15N.

Curious, why not mount high on the windshield and tap the rear view mirror?

Thanks, just what I need.

California law regarding mounting locations and my height make this difficult. I currently have a blind spot behind the mirror because I am almost touching the headliner. Have to look around the mirror at four way stops. Mounting off the mirror would skirt the written law if not the intent, but would increase the blind spot.

The 12V between the cupholders already turns off when the car does, FYI.

Not exactly how you'd expect, but it isn't constant-on. Shut the doors and lock the car and after another 30-120 seconds or so everything will power off, including that socket. The one in the trunk works the same way - when the car "wakes up," the socket is powered, but when it ls locked and shut it will turn off.

I understand and thought this was the behavior. I will check again as my radar detector has problems with the power.
