Who's doing the cage? Hit up JPC fab shop in Stroudsburg-they did the cages for the cars at Monticello Motor Club!

I followed those builds closely!

The quality of the cages seemed excellent! And I was wondering who did their cage work so thank you for the recommendation.

To be honest the cars they did for MMC are beautiful but they are just "sport" race cars. They are mostly stock M2 with cage stripped interior and fire suppression, data and basically stock everything else- from what I can see.

I plan to take this build to the limits, and hopefully close to GT4 Specification.

As I saw the M2, ripped apart to her stark nakedness, I shed a tear of mourning, but that turned into one of joy knowing the phoenix will be reborn stronger and more powerful than ever.

The M2 is it's own beast and we are attempting to develop this chassis with the ability to duplicate it and offer some of the components and parts for eventual re-sale, or at least to find the best quality components of those available with an actual motorsports application.

Plenty of fellow members have already developed their M2 for show and light track use, but with the exception of the team running their's in endurance events in Europe, I have yet to see anyone actively racing here in the USA with this chassis.

I have driven an M235iR on track, at speed as was disapointed with its performance. Yes it is already a developed car, for sure. Although- base price is $85K + and I was told from a few of the guys running in PWC that that did not include the homologated, race spec exhaust (it comes with a factory exhaust system) and requires a ton of suspension components to be changed from standard to spherical, yada yada yada.

Also- have you see those hideous bolt on flares?

I think this will have its own special place in the world.
I think people also forget the 235IR is basically a endurance car, designed to run 12-24 hour races affordably (relative) Its sort of like a spec miata in Europe. I don't think it would be very competitive in the classes you want to run. Should be a interesting car, beats seeing another GT4 cayman with aircon. You think the 235IR is odd, try one of those with a factory setup. One minute your falling asleep, the next it will try to kill you.

This is just smart. I've started businesses to finance my hobbies. It's a great tax shelter and smart way to finance fun projects. I would recommend anyone who wants to build project cars to start a business, make the car a business asset, race it, advertise your business and write it off come tax time.

nowhere near the same as an owner risking his own pride and joy without a safety net.

Not to mention that you can obtain parts at cost.. easier path to sponsorship via purchasing power of the business etc.

once again. not saying that this is not cool.. and not saying to delete anything..

Thank you so much for this brother!

I started a small BMW repair shop a few years ago- because in my mind, it would be the only way I could ever afford to go racing. Everything I do in my life revolves around getting to the track.

Working for some other people in the industry, THE BMW Dealer included, just wasn't cutting it.

After a few years of hard work here, I now have a full time fabricator (who is consequently also my best friend) available to help and we basically just work on cars so that we can build race cars to have fun.

I am trying NOT to commercialize this project as much as possible. I am doing this to be living proof- a normal, hardworking 25 year old dude with a serious love for BMW's can put together a serious BMW Racing effort if you follow your damn dreams, and work your ass off. No one ever handed me a thing. And to respond to a few other allegations, if I mess this up- with the cost involved , etc, I will lose my business.

I've known Tyler for years and years, worked with him at BMW before i was here at ACM, This is NOT a marketing ploy. He owns the car and was driving it to work every day after he picked it up. Very few people i would say have the pride and joy out of building and racing cars as Tyler does. Tyler is building his, with his own time, and with help from friends within the industry. Hes doing the forum a favor by building a car not many people have the opportunity to and documenting it for the world to see. Keep it up homie love you dude
