I think "hate" might be a strong assertion.

BMW is still hands down one of our strongest markets, here in
the states, as well as around the world.

///M cars are by far our most popular applications w/ the current
model M2, M3 & M4 being the top of the food chain.

I think what some people may be reading into is based on
how the most vocal enthusiasts (here in the forums) perceive
the difference between what we describe as a pre-engineered,
tested, validated, & readily available software solution
vs. what
other tuners sell or offer as a customizable platform w/ optional
features/functions available to the end user.
.

Simply stated, it's "different strokes for different folks". If you want
custom functions, and are willing to put in the personal time/effort
to take advantage of them, then by all means there are multiple
options currently available.

It's also important to note that we are a California company with
20 years experience in the aftermarket. What this affords us in
terms of market presence, in turn creates notable liabilities which
smaller brands/companies/independent tuners do not have the
same responsibility towards.

What that forces us to sacrifice in terms of adding features that
may/may not be legal is some states, we try to more than make
up for by providing a product that delivers exactly as advertised,
based significant amounts of testing on our in-house dynos (plural)
and offering incentives like our 30-day money back guarantee.

i just think you guys should have a 3rd party tuner that will charge $$$ for some customization, have the person getting the tune to sign a waiver telling them they assume all responsibility etc, this might be beneficial for you, heck id pay $200 just to have this cold start removed!! why not offer something like this to capture another part of the market and make more $$$ at the same time?

Personally I'd be extremely disappointed if I'd bought a tune on the understanding the the GTS features could be removed (as mentioned on this thread previously) only to find out later that it couldn't...or should I say VF wouldn't, it's not the best view of VF customer service for people about to take the plunge and purchase a tune.

The GTS Features are optional ... Cold Start Removal is not,
as that is an emissions control function.

So none of your tunes alter emissions?

Honestly when a user here mentioned they asked VF a bunch of questions and VF didn't get back to them in what they felt was a timely manner it turned me off from their product. They went to a competitor that is responsive and I considered that when looking into a tune.

Certainly not the response when contacting VF via email, to quote

Hi Paul,

We do not offer any custom variation in our tunes. Our stage one would only be available with the GTS features listed on our website: https://vfe1.com/products/hex-m2

Please know that the throttle over run or “burble” is only active when the car is driven in “sport/ sport plus mode”. The additional performance is present in all drive modes.

Thank you,

Abe M.

I can see the flaw in how that was communicated.

What should have been clarified is that the individual features
are not made available à la carte, but that you can choose the
desired power level with or without the “GTS Features” as an
added option.

We sell lots of ///M2 software (more commonly for Stage ONE)
without the added “GTS Features” as the factory start up and
overrun is already pretty decent. Stage TWO customers tend
to lean more towards the aggressive side and more often than
not want more pops and bangs.

One other thing to note is that the factory overrun on completely
stock vehicles will vary from one software version to the next.
BMW themselves have elected to reduce the amount of overrun
to protect the catalytic converters.

Additionally, start up roar and overrun, when applied/calibrated
properly, have various limits and functions that are temperature
controlled which is the reason for some of the inconsistencies
from one startup cycle or drive session to the next.

Ok guys,

Sent the info you need to build my tuning last Friday, received an e-mail Monday that everything needed was there and that I should receive my tune within 24/48 hours.

I sent an e-mail this morning asking for an update or any information as to when the tune will be delivered. Haven’t heard anything back from the e-mail...

Trying to be patient but getting weak... lololol

Apologies for the delay.

Files should have been sent this morning, just in time
for you to enjoy the extra power over the weekend.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts after your first drive.

Yep, received it this morning. No worries on the delay...

The install went great. I was able to get in about 15 minutes of driving before the heavens opened up and the roads were drenched.
I am very happy with the stage 1 tuning so far. The gains are enough to be felt on the “butt Dyno”. The power delivery is nice and smooth. Looking forward to more time behind the wheel but all and all very pleased with the purchase.

Just as advertised VF. Thanks guys ..... in the future I see a moving on to stage 2 once I get the supporting peripherals installed....

Re-selling hex tune?

VF-E,
Are you now allowing folks to sell their hex tunes to someone other than the original buyer? This is why I am asking:

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1567919

It could be a hoax, or maybe I don't understand the circumstances. However, you told me the cables are coded to the VIN of the car. I wanted to use my M2 hex cable on another one of my car, and was told that I had to buy another cable and tune.

Out local VF shop sends you the cable and then you return.

My gains after doing the stage 1 hex tune almost identically matches their dyno plot. (obviously my car is the m235i so the baseline is lower than what the m2's do, but the post-tune plot is nearly identical) You know what they say: Trust, but verify.

I had an M2 with Dinan stage 4 that I did 20k miles on (and tracked some) before I got rid of it. This car with the stage 1 hex tune feels faster than my M2 was when it was bone stock. Their dyno plot would confirm what I was experiencing lol.

The pops and bangs are fun, but that's down to personal preference. Flash tunes just feel so much more immediate and stronger. The piggybacks just feel choppy to me. It's hard to explain. Try both and you'll see what i'm talking about. I'm a happy customer!

I appreciate the feedback! I have a dyno scheduled Monday for stage 2, and another session Friday after I get the intercooler upgraded. I'm really anxious to see the results!

Great video! Wait until you experience stage 2. I suggest you do at least 10 drive cycles for optimum results. The ECU really does need to learn. I posted here earlier, but with similar mods and stage 2...we can easily keep up with stock f80s.
