Does the downpipe in your opinion change the way the car drives? By looking at those dyno results it seems like it significantly changes the torque/hp map shapes and would probably affect power delivery.

Yes, a difference can totally be felt. The turbo spools a little faster so the throttle response feels better and more instantaneous. There's a little bump in power as well but not a ton.

If you're just getting a straight pipe literally any brand will do.

If you want a catted DP I would suggest Fabspeed or Remus as they use high quality HJS cats. Akra stuff is nice but it's super overpriced IMO.

WHat sportcat are you running? Why didn't you pass? Did you have a cel? did your tune turn the O2 sensors off?

got that, but my concern is about the top end. It seems like the stock engine keeps more power in the high end of the rev range. Would I feel that lack of power up there?

I didn't really notice any changes in power at the top end. Feels pretty much the same at stock to me.

It's been around for more than a year now because that's when I found out about it. I'd have gotten it had I known I was getting a Remus exhaust but the fabspeed cat is a high quality part so I don't mind.

And fitment is "close" to perfect. For 1400 dollars it should be dead nuts on.

Anyone with an aftermarket DP and/or mid pipe (resonator delete) have any issues with the dealership such as an unwillingness to work on the car at all, and/or warranty or maintenance plan coverage?

My dealer installed my res delete and downpipe so they clearly don't give a damn. YMMV.

Hey Andrewc89,

Others have mentioned a possible drone with the Dinan res delete.
I believe you mentioned "no drone" earlier, but I just want to confirm.
I have zero interest in DRONE!
Thinking of pulling the trigger on this and I'll be set up like your second vid.
Res delete w/ stock exhaust.

TIA

Getting the res delete with an otherwise stock exhaust isn't going to cause any drone. Only after you introduce an aftermarket cat into the equation do you start to encounter minor drone issues here and there. I have the same fabspeed sport cat with a Remus exhaust now and even that doesn't drone much. Trust me, you'll be fine.

Old thread. But I’ll revive it.

Is the res delete install purely Bolton or cutting pipe?

Fabspeed cat is also remove oem replace fabspeed?

I’d like to do it on jack stands .... unless I rent a lift at a local shop

Res delete requires cutting the stock pipe and clamping the new pipe on.

Sport cat is bolt on.

I have the FB sport cat, Dinan res delete, and Dinan free flow exhaust. Sounds amazing. There is some drone for sure but not bad. I think this is the best setup for the buck.

Thanks. I may try just the cat. Focusing on keeping this baby stock for now but would like a bit more crackle/burble

There's definitely drone while cruising at high speed. It's simply the price you pay for such a raw and enthralling exhaust setup.

Forgive me for reviving an old thread, but I had a question about this that you might be able to clear up.

You say there is no additional drone if you delete the resonator on a stock exhaust.

What I'm trying to figure out is if the deletion of the resonator does cause more drone when you do the sport-cat. Like, if you plan to do a sport-cat, keep the resonator type of thing.

I know I'm getting a sport-cat when my warranty runs out, but I'd like to have the resonator delete as well, so I'm trying to figure out if the sport-cat + resonator delete is a bad idea.

Your thoughts?

In my opinion you should start with the sport cat by itself and based on how you like it you could then consider adding the res delete if you want a bit more noise. You won't get drone regardless, the stock muffler does a great job of killing resonance. That's part of the reason I ended up going with a Remus system, the stock exhaust works very well (a bit too well for me).
