Only got the one side metal plate that goes in the rear side panels around rear seat area. Instead of the other side I got a box with a wishbone lol. And I got sent the wrong plugs for the wheel well insulation. Will sort these out tomorrow. So far I only have the door to fender insulation and the engine bay under hood piece installed. |

That’s too bad. How’s the difference with the pieces you have installed?

Suspect that the winter tires were responsible for a good part of road noise. Now with the summers I'm second guessing the need for all those other pieces. I'll do them anyway for highway trips. |

Voyagergab do you have pictures of the pieces you’ve installed or will be installing and where they go? Are you on PSS?

GregoryK Thank you for being the pioneer for this project and sharing the info with us.
voyagergab Are you able to confirm whether the side hole covers (41007294289, 41007294290) are already in place for M2? I am less bothered by the road noise but the (non-MPE) OEM exhaust drone at constant speed does get to me quite a bit. I plan to do the 4 rear wheel well insolation pieces as well as the covers if needed. Are you guys getting the parts from your respective dealer or online? Thanks!

Yes, thank you GregoryK & voyagergab for sharing your findings.
RedCarrot is your ASD still active? If so that’s what you’re hearing. It’s very annoying. If you need more info let us know. |

Hey Voyagergab. Are those panels for the whole beside the passengers seats metal or hard plastic? If so I think that they would do a better job than the Dynamat that I used.

A soft product will not do as good a job IMHO. That will act like double glazing does where what I did would be like sticking that plastic stuff on the inside of a single glazed window. It would help with heat transfer but would not cut down the noise as much as a hard surface. I'm going to order those parts. I still have a letter into BMW to find out why those parts were missed even though they show up on RealOEM.

Oh I coded ASD out via BimmerCode within the first week of taking delivery. The drone is very distinctively coming from the rear at cruising speed. My ears are sensitive to low frequency noise so it bothers me more than most others. Hopefully the insulation and covers will do the trick. I might even add some sound absorbing pads (those used in recording studio) behind the covers for good measure. Thanks for offering info

I've used the Barrymat BM-1c with incredible results on other vehicles. http://www.wilrep.com/Absorbers-Barriers-Composites.htm
