Why are people changing plugs BM3
I've seen alot of recent threads where people are just jumping into BM3 and are saying that they should swap plugs to one range cooler for the OTS tunes on stock turbos. Why is this recommended? I've always understood that unless you are running some retardedly high boost or big turbos i.e. 500hp+ builds, factory plugs are sufficient.
currently running FBO, catless, bm3 stg2 93 for 7k miles and have seen no issues in logs or timing that are not related to fuel quality. |

Early adopters were all changing plugs, but over time there were a lot of people who didn't and had no issue. I think if your car is close to 50k miles you should change them regardless of heat range as good housekeeping. There's also speculation you should change more often on tuned vehicles, I have 20k on a set of NGKs and they were fine/gapped correctly when I pulled cylinder 1 in August. Never experience misfires on stock or 1 step colder, but I had poor timing due to octane initially and thought plugs might help.

Truth is stock plugs are fine. Once they start getting older, it will misfire with higher boost. It will still keep up with stock boost. Most people start complaining that there is something wrong with the tune since the problem does not happen with stock map Tuners are just saving themselves the headache of dealing with the same issue all day and risking a bad reputation since most will just post a thread before taking 5 minutes to do any research
