They absolutely void your warranty. Dinan has their own warranty that might* cover what was voided on the original car warranty.

Yeah. That's been their marketing mantra, but to enforce it can be a really sticky wicket.

"Worth it?"

In what respect?

Financially?
As some have said, there are other options/parts out there that may offer a bigger "bang for the buck".
I was more interested in a seamless integration of mods vs. trying to piece together Frankenstein's Monster.

Psychologically?
The fact that many dealers offer Dinan parts (not unlike their own MPerformance parts) might lead to a certain "peace of mind".
The Dinan warranty is, at least, offered. I'm not aware of any other tuner with a similar policy.

I had an '03 E46 with the full Dinan stage 2 package and never had a problem.
My '18 F87 has the S2 package without the muffler, but with the res delete (no badge ).
Is it maxed out? No. However, the added power comes on smooth and it pulls forever. Did I mention "peace of mind"?

"Worth it?"

It comes down to what you're comfortable with. Both financially and psychologically.
You'll find guys here who will mock your decision as well as guys who will envy it.
Either way, I would take all comments with a grain of salt.

I "built" my car the way I wanted and was most comfortable with. You should do the same.

Dinantronics X

Has anyone tried the new DINANTRONICS X on their OG M2? Wondering how this compares to flash tunes.

Dinan is overpriced and sometimes doesn’t even work well (see the Dinan intercooler and Dinan intake)

I've been running the Dinantronics Stage 2 piggyback on my M235 for over 2 years now. I'm also running a 300 cell DP, CP, M2 lower airbox, and intercooler. I got the Stage 2 unit used because at the time, flash tuning was just really starting to become available and took a wait and see approach. My car was also under warranty at the time.

I've noticed absolutely no hiccups in power delivery, whether in 10 degree weather or 100 degree humid weather. The power is linear and quite smooth. It builds and builds as the rpms climb, just as Dinan advertises. Lots of talk about poor driveability with JB4 piggybacks, but my Stage 2 has none that. Perhaps it's because the Dinantronics taps into a ton more sensors and data to manage how it manipulates boost, etc.

I can switch between stock, Stage 1, and Stage 2 via my phone. There is a noticeable difference in power, especially Stage 2. The power comes on much stronger from 3,000rpms and the biggest accelerations differences being above 40mph.

If you can find a used Dinantronics for under $500 and you're not keen on flash tuning, it may be a good option.

I have wavered on going with a MHD flash tune, but my Dinantronics Stage 2 generates way more power than I need on street plus MHD Stage 2 isn't going to make any power than what I already have. It would be nice to datalog though.

The setup I have is good for around 380whp/390wtq.

The only Dinan parts I would buy are…

I can't think of anything.
