Exhaust seals
I'm putting a lightly used Akrapovic exhaust, and a new Akra catted DP on my car. I have both of them in my living room staring at me on a daily basis.
The DP did not come with any seal's in the box. (Not sure if that's standard or not. I reached out to the supplier i bought it off of to find out) and since the exhaust is used it doesn't have seals either. Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy new seals? Can i just buy the OEM seals? |

seals as in gaskets? If so, the OEM turbo-to-DP gasket should for sure work since it will be the same size. does the Akra DP work with the stock exhaust? if so, I'd think the OEM DP-to-exhaust gasket would work as well. I'm not sure if there are others, though. I've only ever done my downpipe.

Here are all the part numbers associated with changing the downpipe. I believe one clamp can be reused, but it's only $30 so I would change it anyway.
18307620349 18307581970 07119904992 18307525607 18307606136 33326768354 (need 8) Total cost of all that is ~$115 |

You can reuse everything. Never used any new gaskets on a BMW downpipe ever. You should move the copper/brass seal over to the new downpipe. Bend the alignment tab out of the way and it's easy peezy.

You "can" but BMW says not to in the repair guide and downpipe mfgs recommend not to as well. Also gonna be a PIA to diagnose a CEL if you don't replace that stuff during install.

Never seen it unless the leak is huge but you would hear it to at that point.

You can re-use gaskets but success really depends on the age of the car (lots of M2's are fairly low mileage) and condition of the gaskets. If it's a low mileage car it's likely you will be fine but over time they get brittle and may not seal properly on new pieces. I replace them for piece of mind as I really hate having to go back under my car and remove parts to fix something that I could have done right the first time but to each his own.
