What car do you regret not having anymore?
I know posts like this have been made before, but we have a whole new group of people on the forum so I am curious to hear all the stories. I have owned lots of cars in my lifetime (I am old, lol)...but the clear #1 car I regret not having anymore was a brand new 2012 E92 M3. Alpine white over black leather, pretty much fully loaded including the comp package. That car was a dream in so many different ways, and I still regret selling it to this day. Other examples?

A regular 2009 Mazda 3... it was reliable, efficient, looked ok and was cheap. Would be a great 2nd car now.

I miss many of them, but the one I regret selling is my last red Conquest TSi.
You know how you have that one girl that, even though you're not with her anymore, was really the one, but the circumstances just led you away from her? The girl you'll miss the rest of your life. The girl that when people talk about "the one" her face instantly comes to mind. The Mitsubishi Starion ESiR/Conquest TSi twins are that girl for me (in car terms). I sold my last '89 Conquest because I didn't drive it enough, and I was full on in love with the Subaru WRX STi at the time. But if I could have one car back it wouldn't be that WRX STi, or my S2000, or my MR-2, or my RX-7, it'd be that Conquest. |

2000 Acura GS-R 170hp, 5-speed, with surprisingly good mpg. I drove it for a few years then gave to my daughter when she graduated from college. She had it for about 5 years until she was t-boned and totaled the car, luckily she was unhurt.

E39 M5. Selling her was the worst car decision ever.

My first car was this kinda crappy old Toyota Celica. But it was an all-trac and therefore probably still a bit too fast for me. I managed to both oversteer and understeer the car into a ditch during the couple of years I owned it.
But the turbo/awd combination was pretty awesome at the time and nobody would expect it to be as fast as it was, with about 190 horsepower. It was an absolute riot in the snow, with a 50-50 torque split that let you really hang the tail out under power if you were brave. I definitely wish I still had it. Homologation specials don't come along every day. |

I miss my tuned Mk6 GTI and tuned Abarth 500 most. Cheap fun and easy to drive around closer to the limit. I also miss my 2003 350z, but it was not really reliable and police really do not like them. I got more tickets in the Z than I did in all other cars I’ve owned combined (over 30).

2007 Z4 Coupe 3.0 SI MANUAL!
I lusted after the e86 when the concept car came out in 2005. Took me 4 years but I finally managed to get one in 2009. It was silver on black (the combo I wanted) and it was my first BMW. Still my fave car to date. Others have surpassed it in driving dynamics, but in terms of that "je ne sais quoi" that car was the one I was most attached to. Had it 4 years which is the longest I ever owned a car. Want another one, but pretty darn impossible to find a low mileage, manual SI coupe in Canada. |

1973 Datsun 240Z (triple Webers, 3/4 race motor, Bob Sharp suspension, and waaaay too much rust and bondo to really be a keeper). I'd also want the 72 Camaro back, but only so I could sell it for a profit.

Certainly not regret: I would have regretted not owning it. More like properly miss most
Had it for less than 2 years and the only reason I sold it was because I left England. Absolutely brilliant car. AST adjustable suspension, proper hydraulic steering, hugging but not too hugging Recaros, Bembos to stop it, and that brilliant slick gearbox/vtec engine combo. It was like having a BTCC touring car for the road - 5.5k-8.5k was pure bliss. |
