The 24 hours encompassed the production of both scoops and both hose interfaces. We used a .8 nozzle with 100% density for strength.

For the M3, if I had to do it again, I’d move the holes for the zip ties a little farther away from the control arm and add a little more “lip” to the opening for stability.

I’m trying to decide if I have the courage and resources to do a side-by-side comparison of the ducts versus the Porsche scoops. The ducts require some kind of backing plate to be installed and I don’t think I want to be pulling calipers and rotors off as my track time ticks away.

Ah, the hours do add up :-)

Don't know if it's relevant but I earlier ran the GT3 scoops for one season, with just some of the metal backing plate folded away to get air on the disc and caliper. So no hoses or anyhting. That was better than stock but not 100% enough cooling for my tracks/driving/PFC08. But the scoops + hoses is worlds better. First time I have more cooling than neccesary and room to spare. Again, that is for my type of tracks, driving style, brake pads... :-)

I'm going to take back what I said. These scoops are a damn good design incorporating some really intelligent design cues.

I've run into a challenge, though. Mine are rubbing on the wheel body when turning full lock. Its not bad, but enough to leave evidence on the ducts.

We tried changing the design to incorporate a little more room where the wheel is contacting, but we can't get the program to let us edit it effectively. Is there a more "original" file we could try?

Also, I got my hands on a second set of Porsche front scoops and they fit beautifully on the rear with zero cutting. The air goes directly at the caliper and rotor where I cut the shield.

I could definitely make a new slightly adjusted design but I'm surprised they rub on your car since I run 10" in the front and have no rubbing. Either way we need to find out what is different so I know what to change. Why don't you contact me on magnus@rejsa.nu so we can work it out together :-)

Sorry, I just saw this post. We modified the original drawing to add some clearance by the inner lip of the wheel where it had been contacting the scoop. I also mounted both scoops as far inboard as they could go. This necessitated disconnecting the headlight leveling sensor arm on the left side. I have done a few events with the revised ducts and everything is perfect.

Could you pls share the STL? I have been working on the other side and will have a 2nd proto done this weekend. If it fits I will make a 3D printed mold to make CF ducts that attach to the OEM shields.

Looks nice!

But I would love to understand why you had this clearance problem. Could you possibly take some pictures?

Are you maybe mounting them further inwards to the center of the car than I do? The more outwards you mount them the more clearance you get.

I’m ready to take the plunge into adding front venting. I bought the 911 deflectors to add, but these vents above with some tubing look way more effective. I also daily drive my car year round (snowy winters) so I’m worried I might be directing snow/salty slush into my disks. Do you guys think I should set it all up for track days and just install night before and then remove them afterwards? I’d modify the stock backing plates to accept the tubing and just clamp on and off. The zip ties easy to cut off to remove the plastic piece. I would probably just leave them on for summer track season.

I've had them on all the time but I'm thinking of removing them now if we get deep snow.

@FlyingLow78 Did you see what I wrote earlier, the further out from the car you mount them the more room there is. Sounds like you mounted them much further in towards the car than neccesary. I'm a bit curious why you didn't mount them as intended, where there is enough free space and no contact issues. The air flow is very good at the intended mounting position.

Sorry, just saw this, since I don’t get over to the F87 forums as much as the F80. I do mount them as far inboard as I can to clear, but I will look at mounting them closer to the wheel.

It is hard for me to get pics of the car with the wheels on and suspension compressed without a drive-on lift. I don’t plan on bringing the car out of hibernation until April, and I’m slammed with school and work all winter, so all of my projects are on hold until I graduate.

I've updated on Thingiverse with a version of the original 3D-printable scoop with a slightly tougher version that probably can be used for gravel tracks hahaha!

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3566812

And again, the scoop should be mounted as far as possible away from the car, the closer it is to the wheel the more space to accommodate the wheel when turning it.

:-)

The updated larger intake version I did a while back also works with the large Competition calipers, small 18" wheels and also 10" wide wheels in both 18“ and 19“.

Are ya'll printing these with ABS? Or even PLA (although I feel like it would immediately melt due to being so close to the brakes)
