BMW progressively takes camouflage off the car knowing that the car will get photographed in public and end up on the internet. Don't really think they need to instruct forums to post such photos. I suspect it happens naturally.

Dint thought of this before probably has been mention earlier.
But look at the fangs on the rendering of the M2 it looks like its the M3s versions but upside down let me show you with the picture bellow. Just something i noticed now but they sure look good next to each other in those colors. |

The basic shape is very nice
I just really dislike this new design language of the front air intakes it started with the 1m, and its spread to the M3/M4 etc I hate that central part the perfect intake was the E92 M2 just a big opening imagine the M2 without that central piece it would look a lot better the rear bumper also looks like the accord coupe

I actually think a more streamlined fang would look better, more to what the above poster said of the M3 upside down vents. Maybe something like this, with the side of the fender also tapered a bit to unify the lines.
And I fixed the color...

"Form follows function": the fangs serve to guide air towards the air curtains (side breathers - air ducts). See for example these posts: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showp...55&postcount=8 http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=31 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...89&postcount=1 BimmerFile reporting in December 2010 on the 1M air curtains: "There were a couple of surprises earlier this week when BMW took the wraps off of the 1M. Two of them lie squarely in the air intake area. First the bad. No there are no functioning brake ducts. Instead M has routed the normal intake areas into two radiators to help cool the twin turbo inline six. Unquestionably this is a disappointing move but according to sources a necessary one given the engine’s need for cooling. However the same sources are also telling us that the extra intakes weren’t as necessary as they could have been given the brakes propensity to cool on their own given the design of the system and wheels.

No front plate required here! No need for extra holes in what will be a beautiful bumper!

Nothing really new here, but I spotted this in Mahwah, NJ today on my way home from work. I did kind of get along side before I took this pic, then it took off through a gap in traffic and since I was driving my Miata, I didn't stand a chance of keeping up, lol. In person you can really tell how much the rear fenders are flared out. The BMW HQ is not too far from where I work, so I hope to see more of this thing.

I think the video linked below (click the M! ) might help some skeptical folks renew their interest in this car (5:35 to 12:17 specifically). While we know or at least assume that the car is built primarily on the M235i, a LOT of research has gone into how to make it that little bit better in every way.
Considering how rushed the 1M was and how great it turned out, we can safely assume the M2 will deliver to those who are patient. Just have faith. Can we all laugh for a minute about Bernhard Gobmeier's american accent? |
