Someone said that on the bmw Reddit too. I don’t put much stock into it because I’m convinced bmw basically gives cars to car journalists. I found it suspicious that when the G8x were announced, Matt Watson, Shmee, and Joe Achilles all had a series of videos about picking out their spec, collecting their cars, and several reviews.

It is pretty blatant paid advertising on BMWs part.

Not sure that's the case with Chris though, he's openly bitched about having to get in line and pay full price for cars just like everyone else. It makes sense in Chris' case because manufacturers know that on any given day he's as likely to give your car a brilliant or scathing review, then 6 months or a year later do a 180. I really like Chris, but his reviews depend a lot on his mood and sense of nostalgia. I've seen him do an about-face so many times you'd think it was that time of the month all the time for him. His sense of excitement is his meal ticket.

A 1968 912.
The other one on the list is a 1988 Landcruiser.
I can't think of any others I've absolutely loved, and I've owned some pretty cool cars.

The M2CS hasn't made the list, yet. Maybe it will someday.
A 2001 6 speed manual Mazda Mx-5 Miata sits at the top of my list.

My son had a Miata. That car was so much fun to drive.

My '97 Miata remains the most fun car I've ever owned, and I've had an S2000, Exige, Mazdaspeed MX-5 turbo Miata, STi, and M2.

What mods on the 97 miata? I had a 93 that I built. That car was a riot. So much fun to drive.

I had no mods to it whatsoever, it was a throwaway lease, and it was a blast bone stock.

When the FD came out they were past my pay-grade, but in 2000 when I was looking for a car it was either the S2000 or the FD. Unfortunately, the FD had already gained quite the reputation for being at very best unreliable, and at worst a complete nightmare. I chose the S2000 and never looked back. But to this day I'm in love with the look of the FD, and if I had that kind of coin to waste I'd have one for sure.

I prefer them very close to stock, simple, and elegant.

Also a huge fan of the FD, unfortunately at 6'3" I didn't fit in it when I test drove one around '00.

At 5'5" they don't fit me perfectly either.

I was lucky enough last year to get to photograph one for a local dealership. It was like going back in time because it was completely stock and had very low miles. I had my friend in his S2000 show up so we could compare them both, and the results were the same...

S2000 > FD (in every way apart from looks)

1M - more feel, but more nervous
F87 M2 - Just right
G87 M2 - less feel, better road manners

I feel like alot of these youtubers are only talking up the g-series cars with to get more views and or maybe even being indirectly paid for it. Time will tell imo.

IMO the Gseries is just a huge car drastic shift in design elements.
