If the next m2 it does come with s55, I hope it sounds gets the competition edition's exhaust. Putting the N55B30T0 in only the m2 and the x4m40 does seem like a expensive stop gap just for them to replace it for the s55 though.

Haven't heard too many people telling us that the Carrera GT is erratic either. Naturally aspirated and very responsive is what most people describe the Carrera GT as.

What do I know, I'm just jealous since I am a non Carrera GT owner.

Listen I hope this is more entertaining than some of these crappy ass speculations about NOTHING! You guys would have been great writers for Seinfeld.

Its the same damn comedy over and over. First, I see no the block isnt closed, then its the turbo is the same as N55s, then its the S55 is going into it and the base M2 is gonna be garbage......

Blah blah blah. Its an amazing car as is. I bet they give it some LED lights and a 20 HP update and call it a day at most for the base update. It will crush every head to head with the RS3 as-is anyway.

Now, a CSL with carbon roof, detuned S55, LTW materials and interior bits could be very entertaining if done correctly. Matter of fact, im first on the list at my dealer if it happens!

F1, CGT, Zonda, F50. Naturally aspirated, carbon tub, shift it yourself supercars. Nothing is better. The CGT is a beast, while it can also be driven daily if your so inclined to. Its just a perfect piece of engineering and when driven hard is a total handful in which you could spend a lifetime mastering. I guess by erratic I meant just what your saying, so tactile it can become erratic. Every input needs to be super deliberate, with confidence, but also with genuine finesse. If you can make it all click, its unbeatable. But what do I know.....

Enjoy waiting everyone out there! Your missing out on the car to buy if your into sports cars that can be daily driven with some semblance of practicality while also excelling on track days.

Facker out!!

I'll bet someone a M2 M performance part of their choosing that the 2018 "base" M2 will not come with a S55. Anything from mirrors caps to MPE.

Any takers?

Here's a thought that will make you stick tight to your 2016/2017 M2.

The next M2 will ONLY be a M2 CS variant with S55/s-motor selling for 70-80kish. Current M2 discontinued as M240i is so close already in the lineup.

....

Probably a way to disprove that but it makes me feel better and thinking that way makes the short run 16/17 M2 its own collectible thing.

Alright, got your point.

Firstly, I was offered an M2 @ MSRP from Arizona and I decided not to get it and wait a little longer so a lot of us who're waiting are doing it out of choice.

Secondly, most of us are not saying the M2 is going to be garbage. That is just what a lot of M2 owners or soon to be M2 owners are speculating and dreading. I couldn't care less since I do not own an M2.

Thirdly and most importantly of all, I am # 1 on the waitlist for the M2 CS/CSL/GTS at 3 dealerships and #2 at 2 more.

In 2019 they confirmed there will no longer be an M2. it will become the M2 CSL. What the changes are for the 2019 M2 CSL he has no idea and they haven't released any more info at this time.
If you are trying to decide on getting an M2 now or waiting for the MY18 M2,you shouldn't base that on what your SA is telling you. Most of the time there info is wrong.Just because he was at BMW Canada doesn't mean his info is correct. In the other thread from the German forum member,he posted that he had a source at BMW Germany, who told him the M2 was being replaced with the M2 CS for the MY18 model year, with the S55 engine.

IMO,BMW also wouldn't be testing a different engine in the M2 now,if it was going to be used in the MY19 M2,its way to early. These test mule pics are for the MY18 M2.

I should at least get 3 allocations and I will absolutely post it here. Just relax and enjoy your car.

Lol the butthurt is so strong in these LCI threads. On the one hand you want BMW to be faster than the equivalently priced Camaro/Mustang.

But on the other hand you don't want them to do it too soon because it'll screw up the resale.

I want:
1> True M4 style Mirrors
2> Carbon Fiber roof option (looks awesome with Alpine white)
3> More color options- exterior at least.
4> Better motor than the M240
5> New V.5 of the (pretty terrible) Sat nav system.

There thats it

I just had a conversation and posted what he said, that's all. My M2 arrives sometime in December. I'm not waiting for the next best thing nor do I care about all the speculation. It's going to be an awesome car and a lot of fun. After a couple years I will probably try something else although i had my S4 for 5 years so who knows. I think what a lot of people are so worried about is the M2 not being worth what they paid for it after a few years of driving and getting this 'free car' thing everyone was hoping for and loving the exclusivity of it and the throw back to the 1M etc. etc. For what it's worth if you get a 17 M2 andin 2018 or 2019 they come out with something better than that just means in 2020/2021 when you sell the M2 you are in line for what all those owners are moaning about on bimmerpost in 2019 worrying about the S99 Wayne Gretzky special edition motor going into the M2 for that year... (sorry I'm canadian and really wanted to make that joke however self indulgent

Since there are wish lists floating around. I'll take either oxford green or Phoenix yellow color options with this update.

Given M3/4 exhaust tips are interchangeable with the M2, BMW must be pissing themselves with the conspiracy theories in this thread.

Wink

I was at Mckenna BMW in SoCal two weeks ago and I spoke to the finance manager about the M cars. He told me that BMW confirmed a new M2 coming out with more power and torque. He got the notice from the BMW factory last month but is not sure which motor they will be using for their new M2.

As if some dealership's finance manager would know. Might as well ask the guys at Autozone.
