MSS Adjustable Lowering Springs Review by Evolve Automotive
Seems to improve comfort and allows for 0" lowering for people who are concerned about that. I might actually go for these since one of my main concerns with changing out for lowering springs is the shortened lifespan of the stock dampers. Increased comfort but maintaining stock ride height seems like a win |

Great to see Evolve continuing to develop Starla. Billy B16 vs MSS + Billy B8's sub'd to hear your comments on the comparison. Costwise, I'd say that Billy B16 must surely be better VFM than MSS+B8 ???

I'd expect it to outperform the B16 kit so VFM doesn't come into it that much. The B16 is a great kit and we have had it on the car for 3 years. I feel the MSS + B8 will be even better. We will find out soon.

Very interested in this approach.
Question about the B6 Vs B8. Bilstein say the B8 is shorter for cars that are using lowering springs. What if I/someone is happy with stock ride height and wants MSS at stock height. Can you/will you still use B8's at that point or need B6's? Please keep any updates coming here/on YT cheers Last edited by 3t3p; 02-16-2020 at 09:22 AM.. |

VAT my friend. They're the same but MSS site does that annoying thing of having no ore calculated VAT.
Add it to basket then take a look. How many hrs for a garage to install something like this? I'm hoping two? |

Oh good catch. I'm in USA so VAT typically doesn't come to mind. Looks like Evolve isn't able to ship to USA yet when I try to checkout. MSS' website drops the VAT once I put in a US based address and allows checkout.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether the MSS is better than the KW HAS? I'm looking around at getting a set of springs (I'm not tracking the car so no need for coils) but can't decide on which ones to get...

I would hope that isn't the case. The M2 and M3/4 shouldn't have the same spring rates.

Then, budget an additional hour for adjusting ride height. Finally, alignment check after springs have settled.

I can list a few companies off the top of my head that I know use the same spring rates for F8X and F87 platforms. Perhaps the "triple" spring rates built into the MSS kit warrants a unique approach that allows it to be more universal |

In terms of lowering springs reducing damper lifespan that is pretty much universally true. It will be shortened but how much seems to vary. Some people reported their struts dying very soon and others are still going strong. Personally, What I like about the MSS kit is that you can have 0 drop and achieve a more compliant ride. It is very high on my mod list now |

So if you use MSS and do not lower, stock dampers should be fine in theory?
If so I may give them a go later in the year. I was set on AST 5100 but feel like they're gonna have to be rebuilt from time to time. Unless I start tracking which I am now considering for the first time! |

However in theory it's more complicated than just height of the springs that can affect the dampers. If the spring rate is vastly different or too progressive then it could cause the dampers to go back and forth between compression and rebound far too quick for the internal valving and could also affect the wear. Personally I think this MSS kit seems to be the balance between practicality and performance just judging from Imran's review so I wouldn't think it will drastically reduced damper lifespan |

All these "conclusions" about how the kit performs from a vendor who has a financial interest in the product succeeding... Do they ever say the products they're highlighting aren't "amazing?" Doubtful.
Case in point, their video on the F80/82 Bilstein Damptronics they only said good things "handles bumps well," "car stays flat," "still compliant," yet when forum members got these same kits there were plenty that said "this isn't what I'd call comfortable," "REALLY firm," "really more track focused," ect...

If you've ever had the chance to see what rates and ride frequencies BMW specs for these cars from the factory across platforms you'd understand why having the same rate on both is silly. I know this isn't common knowledge, but it sure is enlightening.
