stage 2 - which tune ?

Hi,

I have a manual lci m2 since late 2017 which is one of my daily cars.

I always had high power rwd cars (started with m5 e39, then had an e63 m6 smg and i just sold my f10 m5 dkg with a stage 2) and always found the m2 a bit of a let down in term of power.

For the moment my car has 25000 miles approx and as warranty is expiring i am looking into tuning.

The main issue for me is heat soak and the non demonstrative top end.

I am looking at stage 2 tune (93 octane which seems to equal our 98 octane in belgium) with :

- Wagner evo 2 comp intercooler
- wagner 300 cel catted dp
- ftp charge pipe

- BM3 or MHD OTS tune

My main question is :

which is the best and more reliable tune between OTS BM3/MHD stage 2 or should i go for a custom tune from a company in belgium (br performance, shiftech,...) ?

BTW : i would not want the exhaust note to change (so i hope 300cel dp will not add rasp) and i would like a tune with the same level of burbles/ pop and bang as stock and not really more (i find it more than enough)

Should i add any part or it is enough ?

Best regards.

Don't forget ECUTEK. They tune to your vehicle and your fuel.

ecutek is way more respected. The only reason BM3 and MHD is necessarily "more known" as you say, is because it is a set it a forget it OTS type tune for the general average user.

If you're already considering a custom tune, then the platform doesn't matter. You can choose any of the 3 and get a custom tune specific to the gas in your region and to your individual car.

That's a perfect set up to add to BM3 👍🏻 You will love your car again lol

This is absolutely correct. Ecutek isn’t some fly by night company either. If you’re going custom, it doesn’t matter.

I would recommend Bob from Stage FP - also heard great things about Carey Jordan.

A plus with BM3 is with a custom tune you can customise throttle, eg have the same throttle mapping across all driving modes, ideally how a manual trans car should be.
I find Sport throttle the best. In Comfort the rev hang is annoying and wants slow shifting for smoothness. Sport+ is like a light switch & too aggressive (incl the rev match).

I don’t like Sport Plus’s touchy throttle - but I like everything else, including the burble. If I could get Sports Settings as my baseline comfort mode, I would be happy.

With ECUTEC you can have 4 different tunes at the touch of a button. One can be a tune for pump gas, another can be E85, another can be pump gas with octane boost, one can be stock. No need to reflash.

I went with MHD, their Stage 2+ tune is nice. Again a OTS Tune is gonna work okayish for just about anybody. I'm probably going to go with a Jordan tune here in the next little while and try and get the most out of my N55. Can't go wrong with BM3 or MHD when it comes to OTS tunes!

Bootmod3 is the best flash tune on the market, its also easiest to use with more support from the community and tuners than anyone else.

Give it a try, we offer it with money back guarantee

I would recommend the lads from Wedge Performance. Steven has been exceptional with assisting me. Speaking of which, I am due for a fine tune since the incorporation of my XDI35 HPFP and Turbo Smart BOV.
