It is actually brilliant, it makes a wonderful car multi-purpose.

Point A to B can be what an individual makes it.

Many, want that journey to be in a car that they love, so applications like this become a facet in achieving that endgame. It is exhibit A of problem solving, IMO.

+1
It also prevents the need of having to buy a truck and trailer.

If you have any alternatives that are super ingenious, please do mention them.

The only downsides to this that I can think of are:
1) can the m2's frame handle the towing.
2) since it's unrated for towing here in North America, how will insurance react?

It was a Hopkins wiring harness supplied with the hitch. I would answer the rest of your question but I have no idea what all those letters mean!

Thanks, I found a you tube for my harness. However my diffuser split in half trying to get it off. What a PITA that was. I should have waited for warmer weather as the plastic was cold and snapped. Oh well, I quess I"m getting a CF diffusser now.

I am also an RC'er and there is not way I would ever take an M2 type ar to the field. Most RC fields have very bad roads.

Like I said. Dumb.

In Europe you see a lot of cars with hidden hitches (OK, clearly they're not that hidden or you know, I wouldn't be posting this) and small cars towing small trailers. I've seen it a few times in the States, including a neighbor of mine towing a set of tires to his autocross event-- in a Miata. Yep. No tow rating. But the car doesn't know that.

Good solution. I have the CF diffuser and wouldn't cut into it-- but I'm considering a roof rack to help get my gear to the track.

Thanks for this thread. I am picking up a 2018 M2 and want to haul my mtn bikes. which uses a 2" Kuat rack.

I was going to get a Macan so I could tow my Ducati, but decided I wont let something that I may do twice a year dictate my vehicle choice. Then saw I can add this hitch to the M2.

For a rack only is the wiring necessary? I assume for the attachment / magnetic function vs. anything to do with trailer lights/brakes.

And for those that think this is dumb....dont open the thread and crap on everyones day. Tell us everything you do so we can judge and call you dumb.

thx

There is no wiring necessary for the bike rack only and Stealth hitches makes a special receiver just for bike racks...just check out their website: https://stealthhitches.com/products/...md_m2~ly_coupe

Make sure you don't hack up the defuser so it looks like ass.

Put a little bit of thought into it, you'll be glad you did.

Double on the posting of pictures of the stealth hitch. Been toying with the idea of getting one.

Triple. If I saw a picture of a clean install I think I would do it on my 2016.

I’ll post over next couple days. It looks great and professional. Only a rectangular cutout in diffuser. That you have to lean down and know what you are looking for to see it.

Typically someone will add a tow hitch to
  1. add bicycle carrier
  2. trailer track supplies
