Gauging interest in new $349 lip

Hi guys, I currently develop an aluminum lip for the M3/M4 guys and I wanted to get your feedback to see if there was enough interest to develop one for the M2.

The lip is made in the US, it comes powder coated in a satin black. The installation is pretty simple and it's durable for daily use. It's also got the most ground clearance out there for you guys that are slammed.

I'm really interested to see if this is something you guys would buy. Pricing is going to be $349. We can design it to be more aggressive than what is on the F8X, but that would create longer overhang, which reduces approach angle clearance. We are also open to running a pre-order group buy for 10 lips if there is enough interest.

It's very durable, it's not going to bend if you bottom out. If you were to actually bend it, you would have already busted up your bumper.

Here is a head on shot. We could bring it out forward a little more than what we have on the M4. Similar to how it is on the Suby below. The carbon splitters on the M4 are kind of hiding the lip a bit. Getting rid of the fins on the side is not an issue, we can definitely do that, but they will tie in with canards at a future date.

We used the factory holes on the M4 and drilled one hole on the left and right side of the bumper.

That's the plan, but I'd have to spend a few thousand before we can get some cut and colored. At this time, I'm just gauging interest and then we'll get a car in and maybe do some cardboard mock ups before we do the CAD and laser work.

I'd potentially be interested. Looking for a simple, durable lip like this

Thanks for the suggestion, but we don't copy. We will most likely be doing something along the lines of the M4 lip, where it comes up in the middle.

Would you guys be interested in starting a group buy? If we get 10 pre-orders with $100 deposit, I can discount those orders to $300 including shipping to the 48states. Should take about 4-6 weeks to start shipping out orders.

I'd also be looking for an R&D car in Socal. We are in Anaheim. You would get a free lip and a WD discount on our wheels. We'd also love to showcase your car at events and invite you back for future development parts. Your car cannot have any other lip on it now or previously. We need to see the factory bumper holes and can't develop on a car that has had new holes added to it.

Might be hard to get a group buy without actually being able to see it on a car. I know it's not a lot of money but it has the potential to either make or break the look of the car. Front splitters are not easy to make look good on an M2. Maybe a photoshop of what you think that it will look like will help. I am definitely interested.

If anyone is interested, we are looking for a vehicle to use for R&D. We are looking for a car that has never had a lip installed on before. We are looking to use the OEM holes.

Our shop is located in Anaheim CA. This person would get a free lip installed on their car and would open up opportunities to get wheel pricing at cost as well as potential other parts that we may make for the vehicle. We would need the car for about 1 week and again at a later date when production parts are made for install.

Thanks

I agree, minus the middle support piece. I understand OP isn't inclined to go that route, but I think there would be a good sized market that wants something more durable than FRP or Carbon and doesn't want to shell out the kind of money for carbon.

Something like:

Something like:
Exactly. Im planning on riding quite low and don't wish to spend $1K+ on something I'm buying to take abuse instead of the bumper.

I'm not super low, but I like piece of mind. Plus, it's a minimalist design aesthetic, which usually provides a larger potential customer base than "aggressive" motifs.

I like the offering of the OP for the M3/M4, it's a clean piece, even with the winglets on the sides. I don't know that I would go with that particular route personally. I guess what I'm looking for is functional and understated but present vs a statement piece that begs you to look specifically at it. OEM+

We can take a look at not having the center raised up. The one thing that the OEM lip has over sheet metal is the radius, making it more visible. We also are limited due to sizing on keeping it three pieces. It's our packaging that allows us to include shipping in the price. It will take some brainstorming, but I'm sure we can offer something that is going to be OEM+ so it won't take away from the overall factory bumper design.
