"M2's sitting on the lots"
Just curious other peoples perspective on M2 availability now that we are into the 3rd model year. There have been 17 months of delivery since it came out in April 2106. I remember shortly before it came out people were saying give it a year and they will be sitting on the lots and able to be had below MSRP. I really wanted to do ED at the time but count myself lucky to have even gotten a car last May (Las Vegas BMW HEA car). What do people think will be the demand in another year and a half? I'm looking ahead and trying to decide on doing a MY 2020 ED or holding out for whatever might follow. Hopefully the resale market is still strong at that point.

It's impossible to tell the demand of this car in 1.5 year time. It all comes down to the demand and the supply of the car which as you know is nearly impossible to tell

Probably same as now. BMW has kept supply of the M2 pretty tight, so finding one in a lot if still very, very rare. However, with the MY18 LCI, it's possible the older MY17 cars with the "older" look may sit on the lot as a lot of folks passed on late-MY17 deliveries in lieu of MY18 ones.
All in all though, MY20 will be the last year for the M2 and it may or may not skip the regular model and go CS (or whatever it's called) only. Who knows though, it's hard enough to speculate 12 months down the road, much less that far out. If you want a true good idea of what supply is like, call a few dealers around the country and check the length of their waitlists. |

I have only ever seen one (a PE model) on a dealer lot for sale... and it was priced at $70k.
I've seen them listed on dealer's websites only to discover that those are incoming deliveries for pre-ordered cars, not actually available. |

There are 2 AW 2017's on the lot at Crevier - have been there for a few weeks. They're asking over MSRP - but I bet one could get past that with some concerted negotiating discipline - especially given that the 2018's are here. There is a AW 2018 M2 on the web site of BMW of Beverly Hills - and they've got pics - so it's not an "on the way" car. It's really there. Been on the website for at least 2 days. No idea, though, if it's actually a pre-ordered car. There is a LBB 2018 on the site as well - but without pics. I imagine that one might be pre-ordered - but why would they bother producing the pics of the AW one if it was already sold? I'm not associated with any BMW dealership - just sharing some things I've noticed while browsing around ... |

It's been a few hours and no response. Usually they are on it within the hour. I'll report back if I hear anything. And the pics can simply be because it's a AW 18 M2 and they'll use it as an exterior 'file photo'. |

It wasn't until I 'thanked' them and told them what dealership I was going with that they came back around to MSRP on the M2. Too little too late. |

There's a gray M2 that is 6Spd at Ontario Carmax for $49,998! 14k miles. I would snap it up but i'm set on blue.

The LBB M2 at Beverly Hills has found a new home...I'm picking it up today. It was a pre-ordered car and the deal fell through. I am in shock and feel very fortunate knowing how long some people have waited to get theirs. To say I am excited would be an understatement

What the heck is a "rev pack"?
My buddy got stranded in Athens, GA after the eclipse. He was at the dealer as they worked out an issue with his e92. He had just seen my M2 and he liked it. They had a used 2017 (December delivery, I believe) LBB with DCT, exec pkg and a tad over 6k miles on it. They wanted $61,000 for it. He passed.

The 2018 LCI AW DCT, Exec, CarPlay is still - unbelievably - on the website - so it must truly be sitting on their lot waiting for a new home. Amazing that it's been there for almost a week now when there are folks on this forum waiting just to get an allocation. |

BMW of Vista sold their 2nd M2 for a 10k market adjustment but had 2 on their lot about 2-3 months ago.
BMW of Encinitas also had M2s on the lot a while ago and checked with me if I was still interested. Ontario had a M2 performance edition on the lot a few months ago as well. I think a lot of people went to multiple dealerships initially and got on multiple wait lists. When they got their cars, they dropped off the lists. I don't think too many dealerships have long wait lists still. It should be a lot easier to get M2s now if you're ok picking up one that was not custom ordered for you. |

I think BMW has done a good job of striking the balance between supply and demand. Yes it was frustrating to wait all of those months for my car but they don't have them sitting on lots getting marked down from MSRP which has protected all of our values quite nicely. From what I have been told by a GM the allocations are projected to continue at the same rate that they have been at for the last year and a half, at some point everyone who has been waiting will get their cars and we will see them sitting on lots but it doesn't sound like we will see that on a widespread basis anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure century west BMW (LA) has early model 2016's still on their lot. (These cars had a asking price close to 100k for a while, now at about 75k I believe

There's a few on the lots here. I think we could be seeing the "BRZ effect" where, there's massive demand up front, but then everyone who wanted one has one.
