My car will be a week 32 build, but I'm doing local delivery. Enjoy the ED experience!

Was bumped up to week 32 local delivery after plans changed for a October ED. Just talked to BMW NA today. She didn't want to speculate too much. Kind of had to push her but...barring any unforeseen circumstances....

Best case scenario is car should be done on August 8th. Expected Southern California delivery between September 5th and September 19th.

Of course she wouldn't commit to anything. But that should give you guys a ball park based on her experience and whatever info she had.

Seems like a very aggressive timeline but kind of lines up with what someone else posted today regarding how fast their car is being built and delivered.

Can't imagine only 4-6 weeks for a west coast delivery - not sure 4 weeks is even technically feasible.

I said the same thing. But she seemed pretty confident that IF everything clicked perfectly and went off without a hitch early to mid September. If not then the car would be here at the end of September. Again. This information is NOT coming from me. I did not make this up. A BMW genius at the 800 number gave me this information.

Adding to the intrigue...

First the LEDs and now this. What the hell is going on over there at BMW?

I know a week 27 who’s car has been produced and is awaiting shipping. He’s expecting his super early in August. That puts us on target for mid September if we follow the same timeline and everything goes well.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else with a week 32 build been able to add their car to the MyBMW site for tracking? Every time I try to add it, I just get an error message that it isn't in the system yet. When I talked to the Genius line they said it was scheduled for production with no exact date yet. The automated line says the same.

I was able to add by VIN but not by production number. It is looking also like my production slot got bumped up so I don't know what's going on TBH.

Did you get bumped to sooner than week 32?

I just found out yesterday that I got bumped up (usual) by 2 weeks as well - was week 34 now week 32. I was going to remove the Moonroof as I've been on the fence and the car went into production on Friday. They are saying completion by August 10th - takes approx. 30 days from time the vehicle is complete till you have in possession. I expect it around labor day.

I asked my SA why - all he said was maybe the build specifications within the production week's run - LBB, M/T, Executive, and Roof here.

This is pretty much the same information that I got from BMW. Yet everyone is telling me that it’s impossible to get the car that quickly (“not technically feasible”).

There are a few other Week 32s with my exact build Spec also being told the same thing - AW, DCT, Exec, CarPlay.

I think I’ll believe BMW on this one. The rep I talked to said September 19th at the latest. My CA/SA said it’s totally plausible.

It would be fantastic if you could get your car that quickly on the west coast - I hope you do - but my hunch is you won't. 30 days seems a reasonable delivery time to the east coast. But not to the west coast. Just on-the-boat time alone is 30 days to the west coast.

In the interest of setting realistic expectations - I'd suggest estimating 6 weeks as the best case scenario from the date your car gets loaded on the boat in Bremerhaven. Best case. I am personally using 7 weeks from Bremerhaven to manage my own expectations (wk 37).

I know you're not doing ED (neither am I this time), but here's my real-world experience with my last ED (2015):

9/3 - Picked up at Welt
9/3 to 9/16 - 2450 mile ED adventure (Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany. With a 20 minute transit of Bosnia just north of Dubrovnik).
9/16 - Drop off at Loginout, Munich
9/24 - Loaded on Dionysos Leader in Bremerhaven
10/23 - Unloaded in Port Hueneme
10/28 - Clears customs, enters VPC
11/16 - Exits VPC, released to trucking.
11/18 - Arrives BMW of Santa Barbara
11/21 - Re-delivery in Santa Barbara, drive home to Laguna Beach.

My previous ED (2006) was 1 week quicker - it spent less time at the VPC.

Will be interested to hear how it goes with your car - would be great if they've managed to speed up the arrival-at-port -> deliver-at-dealership time. Keep us posted!

Will do for sure! Hoping to get my VIN soon as the production numbers aren’t working on the site for most people. I’m suspecting that my CA and the BMW geniuses are getting tired of me.

My CA has been consistent with saying to expect delivery 60-75 days after build completion. I just don't see 30 days happening to the west coast either, but I wouldn't complain if it happened!

I received my allocation on June 22. After endlessly checking the mybmw site without any update I called Genius today and my car is scheduled for completion on August 9th!

I am doing PCD in South Carolina so hopefully I can schedule a time around middle to end of September. I will let you know once I have actual information.

I placed my order on November 10th 2016. Based off the expected wait times we had joked saying I had come in that day to order it for my Birthday the next year on September 12th. Seems like it will not be too far off

After months of waiting I can finally see the light!

I just got bumped up to wk 32 from week 36! Scheduled production completion is 8/10. Dont know how that happens, but Ill take it. For those still unable to track on bmwusa, get the vin number from the 800 number, and enter that instead. I was having no luck tracking with the prod number also, but the last 7 digits of the vin worked for me, as someone else mentioned above.. You still wont get as much info there as you would from the Genius number, but at least it will show you your vehicle and its production status, even though it wont show scheduled completion date.. At least on mine, it didnt.

I got my vin and entered it but now I don't really know where to go on the mybmw website. It lists the car and shows the color but I don't see anywhere to get updates on the status... most of the links I click end up taking me back to the overview page

My CA sent me a picture of his screen and I can see on there I am status 150

Exactly. The BMWUSA site just shows the car you ordered and its color, and a very basic and scant timeline.. Your best bet is to call the bmw genius number... They have the most recent and complete info:

1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487)

I just talked to the Genius line and my car was scheduled for production today, and VIN has been issued. Completion date of 8/12. The BMW site still doesn't show my car as in production (not even the VIN works)
