Good to know just in case it happens to me or someone else

I think it is covered under warranty. Unless you break it or lose it, that's a different story and will cost you a couple hundred bucks +

Curious to know what's the problem...
They have a demo/dealership car at Pfaff and it had a MPE that was malfunctioning too. It rattled like hell,I think the flaps were very lose. It sounded weird, every time throttle was pressed, there would be a metallic rattle.

As reported in my previous comment, it was merely the MPE module switch located in the trunk that got turned to the 'off' position inadvertently when storing stuff in the cavity next to it.

I'll add the picture shown below to that post.

Wow that's super cool.

It continues to blow my mind how much stuff you learn on this site.

Good info. I might call it the "dealer/valet" switch

Here's a video of my MPE exhaust tested/filmed by a friend. He shows several modes, including the 'COMFORT' + 'DSC OFF' mode. My M2 has a manual transmission. Of course it all sounds even better when on the move under load.

My older videos of the MPE cold start sequence:

Yes they probably sound better than the MPE but they are also twice the price...

For example in Canada, the MPE with CF tips is $3,500 (if installed at the port), the other you've specified will be way more expensive than that I'm sure. Here a simple Fabspeed sport cat downpipe cost nearly $2,000 when everything is counted, and it is just a downpipe...

To have an idea of what we pay you take the USD price of a part and you multiply it by 1.31 and to that you add 30% (customs fees and sales canadian sales taxes). And that is without counting the exorbitant shipping fees from the USA to Canada.

Here the MPE at $3,500 is a hell of a bargain !

Anyone know if any of the aftermarket tips can fit the MPE? (ECS, VRSF, etc.)

Another question: BMW does not claim Hp/Tq gains on the MPE. Is it because the gains are only when in TRACK mode (which is not legal)? I am really curious because I do not see the difference between the MPE and other aftermarket exhaust.

Can someone dyno the M2 in Sport vs Track mode? Thanks!

From the SEMA release of the M Performance parts.

Quote:
Q: Any power gains from the M Performance Exhaust?
A: Few gains should be expected just from changing axle back exhaust on a turbocharged BMW because 1) the main restrictions are in the two catalytic converters, which are retained with an axle-back exhaust and 2) no gains should be expected without remapping the ECU because the ECU is always correcting, so for example if the car loses backpressure, the ECU will reduce power.

Thanks for info. That makes my point.

So how aftermarket manufacturers can claim gains without changing the catalytic converters?!?

Most claim 5-8 hp which is within the error margin from run to run.

Battery dead on the remote? Try to remove and put the battery back in. Please let us know how you fix it.

This is the main reason why I am hesitant on purchasing the MPE exhaust. One day the wireless connection will stop working. Sounds like a PITA to fix if it does. I rather have a wired connection than a wireless connection.

Weird question but I need to know if the M performance exhaust will fit inside the trunk to transport it to a shop for install.

Anyone know?

I don't think if will fit properly in the trunk of the M2 and if it does I wouldn't recommend trying it to avoid damaging your interior.

BMW fixed the issue today, I should have looked more carefully - the fuse had come loose! It's easily recognisable by it's blue color so all that was needed was to get it pushed in. One area to note however is according to the technician that there is no need to pair the exhaust to the controller as this is done automatically.
