I think the Benz for luxuriousness and BMW for sportiness.
I would go for Benz if you want an overall good car. Even though I own BMW, I have to admit that Benz's interior and exterior is awesome, but I don't like their transmission( it really is the worst, I've driven c class and s class but... it was like I was driving on eco mode. It has the power but it gives me a feeling that it's going too slow. It doesn't mean that it's slow) It's a good car for comfort driving. If you want super sportiness for daily driving car, I would go for BMW. I personally think BMW's interior looks cheaper than Benz but when it comes to sportiness, it's the best. If your not going to put your car on the circuit, I think you should go for the car that you put prior to. |

Thinking of an M2 to replace both my current daily drive, an A45 AMG, and my long term much loved E39 M5.
Not familiar with the 2 series, going to look at the M2 base car, an M235i this week. A45 is AWD with hatchback versatility. Power, torque & weight not that different to the M2. 4 cylinder a bit buzzy and not melodious at mid revs, nice noise at low revs and full throttle upshifts. Old M5 starting to need some refreshing but still a cracking drive. |

While you are shopping just test drive them all. When I drove the Macan turbo I was impressed. If you have only one car the Macan would be the best pic. Sport, utility, luxury, and all season. Since you have another larger car get the M2. If it's too cramped for daily use I'm guessing the resale will be decent to switch to something bigger if your situation requires. |

I admit that - when in the market for TWO cars (such was my need at the time), I never contemplated between the M235i and A45 AMG; I did have some difficult time deciding between the Merc and the Golf 7R - but as my sig says, the Merc lost on both fronts...

Had a sit in the M235i today, too small for my needs, back to the drawing board.
Will check out the C450 AMG eventually, rear biased AWD sounds ok and again same sort of hp, torque & weight too? Best bet may be a used M3 though, prices will drop quite a bit by mid 2016. Last edited by M5AMG; 11-03-2015 at 02:28 AM.. |

Drove the 450 sedan today. Gotta admit, impressive car. It's on my short list for the M235's replacement for sure. $57k the way I'd want it, which is basically the same as the M2 w the tranny and exec pack. Really struggled this past week getting around w the RWD even in snows, damn hilly at the new house.

2 distinct cars with 2 different missions. Only thing they have in common is they're both German makes.

I will admit I'd consider the c450 coupe if it comes to market with the 9g tronic. I may even be tempted if these dealer shenanigans continue with the m2 into the fall when the c450 should be available.
It's not going to be as fast or fun, but its one classy looking GT type car and the interior is amazing. |

There are so many great cars right now. One can pick from pure sports to luxo-sport to practical fun. M2 still leading the pack for me but if the dealer wants to play games, I'll take my cash elsewhere and not look back.

Actually drove the 63 as well, honestly as a daily I think it's wasted money for me at least. 450 or 43 or whatever they call it if/when I go that route would be more enjoyable.

If you are gonna jump on a c450, wait until they rebadge it as the C43 AMG...
Still, M2 will outperform the pseudo-AMG car in just about every aspect, minus - most likely - comfort and interior appointments/materials. The Benz is a great daily, and might be the car for some. The M2 is, well, an M car! Apples to oranges comparison imo. Two cars for two totally different purposes.
