Reposting some intake lines hidden underneath the camo wrap.

But the current test mules do not look like that. The piece under the " "V" inverted shark nose" is not connected to the nose. Its more behind of it at the current test mules .. I watched my gallery and I can't find a photo which would match this look.

Here you can see the carbon part is connected to the V underneath of it. But at the M2 test mules its more behind the V.

Not following what you're referring to as the "V", care to explain?

About the inverted V-shape (dubbed 'fangs') seen on the GT6 Vision Concept. It remains unclear whether the triangular part on the M2 test mules is just a camo add-on part to (partially) hide the V-shape, or whether it's like that.

Check how BMW camouflaged the 1M intakes back in 2010 with some camo add-on parts.

This is what I personally think lies beneath the camo. I think BMW is pulling an extra camo move on the length of the fang as well, and in reality it will be shorter like on the GT6.

What do you two think? No way of proving this until reveal. But it's a gut feeling.

Also W/// , what do you think?

Artemis, just saw your recent post. That's very interesting. I noticed that a while back, but I've only been able to see it in that image alone.

Very interesting. I'll look into this more in other shots, too.

Also for the M2, "form follows function" has been the motto for its aerodynamics:

Pretty wide though, nice!
It's the opposite of what is on the M3 and M4. As you know M has a thing for function over form so whilst the M3 and M4 have additional wings above the intake. The M2 places them here but they are curved to allow air to split through the curtains and to the brakes. It's something new, beneficial of course and keeps M design fresh and individual.

But if you look at every detail of this concept [GT6 Vision Concept], every element from the aerodynamic packet to the body sculpture. If we take and shrink it to realistic proportions you get the look of an M car and even so a modern M car with sculpting for air curtains etc.

So, to attempt to 'crack the code' to resolve the conundrum, try to imagine what BMW reasonably would prefer, functionally speaking:
  • option 1: the V-shape intake of the GT6 Vision Concept smoothly guiding the air stream equally towards the vertical air curtains on the side (an ///M feature pioneered with the 1M) ?
  • option 2: one thick upper leg of the V-shape intake to guide the air stream equally towards the vertical air curtains on the side ?
  • option 3:

Bamowe this looks great. Think you could make the blacked out part below the fang also white? Curious how it would look with the updated detailed angular curves.

Never mind, just saw it on page 1, you do have it up. It looks AWESOME!!!!!!

Was talking about this one. Wanted to leave it in a quote from Bamowe, since he made the actual render. It's post #21.

THIS LOOKS GREAT.

Maybe try to flip the image and stitch it together? I think this design will look even more awesome when we can see both sides.

The more I see the less I want one, they could make the ugliest car on the world and most of the people in here would like it, if it looks anything like that I'd rather buy an M235i

Made a quick reflection of the right side and put it left ...

@Steven1077: Oh, thats okay! I think BMW knows why they changed so much at the F20 LCI. Some like "Sid", the bigger part dislikes him. Maybe its also the case with the M2 but personally I don' think so.

I think these latest guesses are much closer than anything we've seen before for sure.

Nice job! A few things:
- No front PDC available, minor detail I know
- I think that horizontal line needs to be less pronounced. I feel like that would create a whole hell of a lot of drag.

See this pic:

Considering that's a concept, I think the final product will be even less pronounced than that. I hope that makes sense, it's still early int he morning for me

P.S. Sid.... that is bloody hilarious. What has been seen cannot be unseen!

Bamowe, my other suggestion is to bring that blue line up to the red line. I think the intake opening wont' be quite as big as the side you photoshopped:

He did originally, and one of the earlier renders reflects that. I actually went and said to cut that down, because I believe the camo extends over part of the intake hole on the inside. They're using a lot of masking camo.

That looks solid to me, unless you think they are using a fake panel down there. It doesn't look like just tape because there's no way it would stay that straight

I think it's the same deal as with what's going on with the fang. They are using camo generously, and hiding the try shape with extra sheets of camo (perhaps a small panel, too).

I'm a BMW fan but to be honest in my opinion the F20 is the ugliest car a european manufacturer has build in the last 20 years next to the Fiat Multipla. The M135i is looking a lot better than the basic F20 but its still Sid with a nice dress.

And when someone who drives this car says that the BMW M2 is not looking good than the car must look awesome because - * - = +, as you know. Just joking. Everyone should buy what he likes.

Will keep an eye of that what you wanted W/// this evening (german time).

Barf. Get this poor car (renders) some braces or headgear. It's like a snaggle toothed hillbilly. Here's to hoping all these renders are wrong.
