Depends on how long are your legs I guess and on your seating position as well I guess. I always extend it the most it can.

Pretty sure a manual will be offered... the uncertainty is whether it'll be a ZF8 or DCT. After the info in this thread, DCT seems to be the one.

I hope I fit in these one piece seats. Are they adjustable at all?

They're not truly one-piece seats (think: fixed back). They really just have integrated headrests. So, they have most of the adjustability as your run-of-the-mill sport seats with the exception of the thigh extender and adjustable headrest. They do, however, have much more aggressive bolsters.

I am taking a similar approach with the new Duc - it is keeping me busy, plus travel for work. June has literally flown by.

I have decided that the Boxster S is out - it will either be a Cayman S, F80, or M2 for me. I just want to see the damn thing - my imagination sucks!

They seem to "help" me the most on longer trips, where my knees might tend to get a little stiffer if the extension isn't deployed - I hadn't realized until just now that the F80 didn't have them.

When I test drove the M4, I loved the engine/chassis but didn't feel that the EPS was better or worse than the M235i and the exhaust note, IMHO, sucked as*, cold or warm.

At the end both cars would more than satisfy my humble DD needs.
You sure do a whole lot of complaining for someone who acknowledges that both cars (M2 and M4 ) will satisfy your needs....

Other way around... There is no reason to install a seat in the vehicle for testing that is not going to be something that is possible for use later....

IN other words... why would they install a seat that they know that they will NOT put in the vehicle when the install of that item can affect the driver's feedback ?

As another data point.. Preproduction models of the 1M DID have the actual 1M seats in them.. with the correct color stitching..

Thank you! Did he say if it was lighter than M235i?

You are quite right - I am hoping that since the DFW area has lots of BMW dealers that it will increase my odds of seeing one in person as early as possible - which will be a small victory.

I have been thinking about this - even if it really isn't lighter or the difference is negligible, I am not sure it will matter much. It should feel lighter on its feet because of the wider tires and better suspension, and the uptick in power won't hurt either.

But I too am curious to know what it weighs.

I'm just waiting to hear if this will be limited or not. If it is, then I'll have mine soon enough. If not, then I'd rather wait a year or 2 (so that I can keep my E36 M3 as well).

I can't wait until the reviewers get their hands on one. At least that'll be entertaining. Begging for spy shots and videos is way worse

I'm almost more interested in learning this than the reveal reveal itself.

I really don't think it will be personally. I might not be the easiest car to get like a Z4M for example, but it should be nothing like a 1M.

However, should it be hard to get, I've got all my bases covered as I'm #3 at my dealership.

norMcal. I did not record lap timing for the car. The driver was pushing it, then driving it "conservatively" during the same lap at certain turns. Looking back if i was to stumble upon something like this again in the future, i'd bring a stop watch and do my best to get some more details.

Well, if the blue stitching on a proper colored car doesn't offend the test driver, it wouldn't offend me either. Please Add.

Question for BMW...Why does Mini get most of the good colors?
(Red/orange on the countryman, 4 blues that resemble Laguna Seca, A few decent yellows, Purple Haze) ?????

He probably didn't want to let the cat out of the bag, in case somebody was keeping track of the times.

Where do you live in the area. We rented a home about 3 miles from the track towards Salinas. I forgot the name of the street, but I took a turn about 2 miles from the track and then drove another mile up the hills. Really nice area. Far enough away from the ocean to avoid some of the fog, but not too far inland to stay cool. I could see myself retiring down there and hit the track every couple of weeks
