Is there a way to change the speedometer to display in KM?

Nope. The clusters are unit specific

You can't change the dial in the instrument cluster. You can, however, set the digital speedo to use kilometers instead of mph if desired. This is the way I had it set during my ED until I got used to doing the conversions in my head.

Like randy said, the cluster isn't digital (even though it looks like it) so the speed units display can't be changed anywhere except that rectangular screen at the bottom Last edited by AndrewC1989; 09-21-2018 at 07:15 PM.. |

Well i suppose not having totally digital cluster adds to the charm of this car,
I would wouldnt want a completely fabricated cluster But they couldve put kph or mph in small subscript like they have been doing in cars for the past 70 yrs |

Well look at it like this, Canadian E9X M3s only had KM/H on the speedometer.

Had the same issue, my e30 touring was kmh but m2c has mph only. I should have made a cheat sheet but instead used the following rule of thumb
30kmh small towns = 10-15 mph was safe 50kmh medium towns/approaching small towns = 25-30mph was safe 60kmh country lanes = 40-45 mph safe 100kmh freeway/highway = 60-65 safe 120kmh autobahn = 70-75 safe /// = Send it. Not exact but worked for me (minus one town that pinched me at 5 over!) |

After driving for a couple of weeks in Europe, the translation became easy for me at least.
25 kph =~ 15 mph 50 kph =~ 31 mph 100 kph =~ 62 mph 120 kph =~ 75 mph A little more or less as signage indicates, quite a bit more on the autobahn when conditions & break in permitted. |

So, I'm an idiot...
After a week of driving through Europe, I finally realized that I don't need to convert mph to km...the screen displays what the speed limit is in mph already! In my defense though, that part of the screen is like 80% covered by the steering wheel for me. Haha |

Not a big deal really since I used Waze as my primary Nav while I was there. Worked beautifully although I did end up driving through an ally I had no business going through - way too narrow. |

Had no idea the car would convert European speed limits that it reads into mph - I had switched the digital speedo to km right away, so I never saw that. Of course, the digital speedo is covered up by default by navigation stuff when you have the nav on, and I didn't have time to figure out how to turn that off during the trip, so I had to get used to doing the km-to-mile conversions in my head every time I saw a speed limit sign, at least until we stopped using the car's navigation after several days. Another advantage for Google Maps over the car's nav on an ED trip is Google Maps has traffic while in Europe, unlike a US-spec bimmer w/nav.
