Noob ED question

That title certainly needs some context

If I went the ED route, is there a service that BMW provides to break in the car before pick up? My reasoning is thus... if I have a car like the M2C over there, I'm hitting the 'ring and possibly Spa as well.
I suspect the answer is "no" but I figured this was the place to ask.
TIA!

Nope.

What you can do though is drive the car about 1200 miles then you can go to any bmw dealer and have them do the break-in service (you have to pay for it out of pocket, but your dealer in the US will reimburse you)

Howdy from the TX Hill Country.

I think getting to the 1,200 mile break-in threshold should be (a big) part of the fun. If you do ED, how long would you plan to spend over there? Keep in mind that BMW covers the car, at no extra cost, for 14 days with zero deductible insurance. However, this insurance specifically excludes driving the ED car on a racetrack, whether or not the track -- like the Nurburgring -- is open for 'tourists' and regular road driving regulations are in effect.

Anyway, if you're going over, then you would really IMO be missing out if you didn't see other places besides the tracks when you're in Europe, unless you've been there before and seen it all (and I doubt that is even possible, but maybe you don't care...)

Here's what you do:

1) Fly to Munich, pick up the car at BMW Welt. Drive to Innsbruck, Austria for the night. 106 miles.
2) Drive to Verona, Italy for the night. 179 miles.
3) Drive to Interlaken, Switzerland. Spend 2 nights. (It's awesome there.) 283 miles.
4) Drive to Strasbourg, France for the night. 178 miles.
5) Drive to Ghent, Belgium for the night. 309 miles.
6) Drive to Malmedy, Belgium. 133 miles, and go to the BMW dealer here for your 1,200 mile break-in service. (https://discar.bmw.be/)

Spa racetrack is 7 miles away.
Nurburgring is 67 miles east of Spa.
Frankfurt -- to drop the car off and for the airport to get back home -- is 110 miles more.

Spend a week seeing many great spots in Europe before you get to the racetracks. And don't forget that you'll need to buy extra insurance for the track driving, or risk it without, and hope for the best.

Great stuff! I've done the 'ring and Spa before and they were both epic. If I had more vacation time saved up, I'd seriously consider a trip like you've enumerated below as it looks incredible. The ED option was a long shot for me due to work, etc. but it's worth exploring all options.

Do you ever track at CoTA? It looks like I'll be racing there (not in the M2C) mid-November as a support series for the Hankook 24 hour weekend (not formalized yet but looking likely).
I haven't made it to H2R yet but I haven't heard great things. The loss of TWS is incredibly disappointing.

As has already been said, spend a wonderful week or so breaking the car in and touring Germany & other European countries. Lovely area to drive with lots to see and do.

You can also rent a car at the track if you prefer not to drive yours.
