What's the Best Exhaust for M2? What Exhaust Do You Have?

So my dad has an order for a 2018 M2 LBB and it's still a couple months out but he's starting to look at parts to get for it. He's mostly looking at Dinan for engine and exhaust upgrades so he can retain the factory warranty. He had MPE on his M235i but for the M2 it's pretty pricey. The remote is cool but not sure if it's worth all the extra money.

Just wanted to see what exhausts y'all are using and what are the popular choices?

Also, anyone running the Dinan Exhaust, did you opt for the resonator delete? He's worried the resonator delete will have too much drone in quiet mode. I told him if he doesn't like it just swap it and I'll help him sell it lol

This is his secondary vehicle so I feel the drone shouldn't be a big concern but he's a very conservative when it comes to modifying vehicles.

Tell me your experience with exhaust systems.

Dinan with resonator delete. No drone. Quieter than stock while on the highway in 6th.
Louder when you want, but not obnoxious. Happy with my decision

Dinan resonator delete with Fabspeed muffler bypass. No drone. Stock cats, it would probably be too loud with aftermarket cats. Very loud on cold start, but then settles down. When I had just the resonator delete, the exhaust difference was only really noticeable in sport+.. 15% louder and 15% more burbles. With dinan resonator delete and fabspeed bypass its 45% louder than stock, 30% more burbles (this is all sport+ mode with m mode). In quiet mode, the combo is 25% louder than stock with 20% burbles.

I've got the Fabspeed sport cat DP - sounds awesome.

I also have the Remus cat back exhaust, but haven't installed it. I'm thinking the combo might be a bit much for my neighbors, though one of them (has a blue M2) gave me a compliment on the rumble with the DP a couple weeks ago.

In my opinion, if the OP's dad is "conservative," he is not going to want the full Dinan exhaust, resonator delete with a catted downpipe, let alone an FI with a catless downpipe.

I'd start him off with a catted downpipe, and add in a Dinan exhaust if that ain't enough.

See, I don't know if he would want to do a downpipe upgrade from the start. My brother and I have both told him he should do the Dinan exhaust with resonator delete and if he thinks it's too loud then he can simply swap the resonator back and sell the Dinan one for a slight loss.

I'd pick either FI or Akra or armytrix although I really like remus too.

Honestly.. If his dad is conservative, why doesn't he just get the stock car, run it.. then decide for modification, who on earth would buy exhaust systems and then upgrade bit by bit, rather than buy full systems then sell it at a loss..

Im confused, as I'm sure everyone else here is lol...

I like stock exhaust with downpipes. No point in spending thousands on more sound.

You make a valid point. Here's why he's on the fence. He's seen the video of the M2 comparing full stock exhaust, stock + resonator delete, Dinan + stock resonator, and Dinan + resonator delete. Him, my brother, and I all agreed that the best sounding one was the Dinan with resonator delete

The Dinan exhaust with stock resonator doesn't sound bad by any means but with the resonator delete, it just seems to really make the car sound mean and aggressive when the flaps are open. Though, as with any exhaust video, it's hard to tell how loud the car really is. That's why I'm trying to gather as many opinions as possible.

In the end he will do what he wants but I'm just trying to help do the research and gather as much info as possible.

I Understand completely; But the stock exhaust is by no means quiet..
Even with comfort mode the exhaust still goes when taking off; just eliminates the down shift with engine brake.

In my opinion any exhaust that's aftermarket will make it probably significant louder. as you'll be going from a 2.5' to a 3' minimum.

I mean how would it compare to MPE for a m235 because he did have that on his M235
