I did a trip from Seattle to SF and then took highway 1 back last year. It was a very fun trip other than the tiny tank almost running me out of fuel in the first leg of the trip back from SF on highway 1. That, and I managed to plan this trip at the peak of the gas crisis. It hurt to see prices of about $7 a gallon. It was well worth it to take the scenic route with some twisty bits!

Good decision! Enjoy it and report back. You’re going to be hooked on driving more trips after taking that route.
Heck, I drove mine 10 hours one way just to get to the Dragon. These cars are too much fun to have just sitting in the garage. |

Trip down was great.
Friend's recommended route was outstanding - a good long stretch of quality road to really open it up, and a long stretch of twisties... the only issue being on the latter portion it being Monday afternoon - too many cars to really get into it... But a ton of promise. Trip back? Chose the much faster, traditional I35 route home, only to get stuck in a dead-stop traffic - full highway blocked - jam and sat for an hour and fifteen minutes - on a "Adverse Heat Advisory" day in Texas. very much appreciate the encouragement to make the road trip. lots of dead bugs and spent fuel. Saw two M2's along the way and my one negative about the car (other than the well known "bladder of a 6 yr old") is the level of road noise in the cabin on certain surfaces. Apple watch reported 86db at one point, which is 2nd only to my old soft top CJ7. |

A few days after I brought my car home from the dealer, I took it on a 1600-mile drive up through New England. Less than two weeks old, the car had 2000 miles on the OD. Today, 22 months later, it's just shy of 10k.
In two days I am planning to drive it to DC and back, which will add another 500 miles. Drive it and be grateful you have it to drive. |

Glad to hear you had a good time other than having to park for a bit on the highway. Unfortunately, those kind of delays come with the territory. At least you were somewhere back in the pack and not part of the reason for the backup!

BlacMacJac so glad to hear you took the roadtrip plunge. i truly love roadtrips in any car, and just couldnt wait to take one in my M2C. drove from DC > NW Georgia via blue ridge parkway > Nashville > DC via lexington, KY. i logged over 2,200 miles last fall and hit some great roads.
can't wait for the next trip!

I am happily planning on a road trip to Montana in my M2. I have done it before and it was great to drive.

ah - forgot to mention a byproduct of taking this drive is my introduction into a feature of the car, I'd yet to experience.
Now, maybe I should be embarrassed I'd yet to drive a car I've owned for almost four years long and far enough to get this screen, but here we are. |

Yes. Shit roads make big sounds. Try it with Cup 2s. I did that this weekend. America and Australia are so similar. Possibly the only two countries in the world that have mega long road trips, crap and good roads and of course cowboys and country and western. Probably why we feel at home in each other’s country. It feels the same but different.
