What is that prototype out in front at 1:08 (plate has digits 5143) ??.... It sounds....

It's not the same as the 5 series prototype seen at the start (plate 5259).


Edit: If you pause it at 1:17 you can see it has quad exhausts.

On February 16, 2016 BMW will lift the embargo on M2 test drive reviews (Laguna Seca sessions).

Hence, it's unlikely that new videos will be added to this thread.

What is the point of them using the camo? Would of been a lot less conspicuous without it as it would of just looked like a standard M2 lapping, unless they have made bodywork changes.

You assume "less conspicuous" is the goal. But the goal is more likely to start generating marketing buzz around the new model to gauge interest without publicly committing to delivering / pricing it.

I was the person that shot this video. The CS was being tested all week, got a bunch of videos and photos, will post some photos soon. The engine sounds very good, sounds slightly "bigger" than the N55. Not as loud as the N55 with the MPE. The sound is a bit more linear, it does not produce a better sound in the upper rpms like the N55 does, in my opinion.
